    Disappointing Return Visit – Not the Luxury Experience We Remember

    the sunrise side and had a wonderful experience, which is why we chose to return. Unfortunately, this visit was quite disappointing.Upon arrival, we discovered a bag of dog waste left on our patio, which immediately put a damper on the experience. The room itself appeared to be in need of some attention and updating. The headboard had peeling leather, the blue accent wall was covered with noticeable white scratches, and one of the bathrobes even had a hole next to the hotel logo. Considering the price of the room, we expected a much higher standard of maintenance and presentation. These issues made the room feel worn, dated, and far less luxurious than advertised.The following morning, we planned to enjoy coffee and breakfast on the property before starting our day. To our surprise, the restaurant was closed, and the only options available were room service or the in-room Keurig machine. This was particularly frustrating because the hotel's advertising creates the expectation that on-site dining is readily available. Instead, we had to leave the property and search elsewhere for breakfast and coffee.While we have fond memories of our previous stay, this visit fell well short of expectations. For the rates being charged, guests should receive accommodations that are well maintained and amenities that match what is advertised.

    We had an enjoyable stay at Carter. Let's get the "bad" out of the way first. If you look at the photos and think the decor is dated and a lot of brown, you would be correct. Yes, someone tried to do Italian/Tuscan decor blended with suburban Temecula. No getting around that. It needs a serious refresh but it's also very clean. The fact remains that there is a nice (electric) fireplace, a large enough soaking tub for two, a large shower with two heads, comfy bed and a nice patio overlooking the vines. You can sip you coffee or wine and enjoy the quiet in privacy, surrounded by roses and greenery. There is also a beverage fridge, coffee maker and bottle of wine provided at check in. These units consist of only two rooms, with one shared wall. The amenities of these cute little private suites outweigh the decor by a lot. Just sit back, relax and enjoy. Comfy and cozy. The location, if you are wine tasting, is perfect. Service was excellent. We did not order room service or use the pool. We did take a nice walk around the vines/winery paths. This was a last-minute stay for a birthday. We are very picky hotel snobs and some reviews made me nervous. When I walked in the room I'll be honest I was a little disappointed. However I walked out relaxed and happy. Tone done your inner snob, chill, drink some wine and enjoy. We will be back.

    Beautiful vineyard- wonderful views. Terrific wine. Over priced rooms- need new carpet. Pool is lovely, and staff working there were so polite and welcoming!

    Awful experience and complete lack of anything that makes resort a resort.

    Do not stay there. There is nothing to do at all. Do not get tempted by Resort and Winery in their title. Everything is absent - no restaurant - there supposed to be some kind of Pool side grill which was also closed and no way to get anything to eat or drink. We were offered a shuttle to some nearby restaurant - which we flatly refused. This place is by no means "resort" - there are hundreds of places around much better. Do not even go there - it is like dead zone - absolutely nothing is going on. We did not even stay after checking in and seeing that there was nothing available - we have left. I will be dealing with Chase requesting full refund. The weekend was ruined.
