WARNING: Jewelry stolen from room — hotel took no responsibility

    rating28 May 2026

During my recent stay, multiple pieces of jewelry were stolen from my room. After reporting the theft to hotel management, they denied any involvement and dismissed my concerns entirely — no investigation, no follow-up, no accountability.I have filed a police report (on file with local authorities). I've also elevated the issue to my company's corporate security department and am seeking to have this removed from our corporate travel plan. The hotel's response — or lack thereof — is what prompted this review. Any hotel can have a bad employee, but how management handles it tells you everything about their integrity.I would strongly caution other guests, especially those traveling with valuables: do not leave anything of worth in your room. Based on my experience, the hotel will not take responsibility if something goes missing.I hope management takes this seriously and does right by future guests.

Great Stay for the Miramar Air Show!

    rating08 Jun 2025

We stayed at the Courtyard San Diego Miramar for the Miramar Air Show in September and the location was perfect. It's about 3 miles from the base, which made getting to and from the event incredibly convenient even with traffic and security. The hotel itself was impressive, especially the open, boutique-style lobby that made a great first impression. We reserved two rooms (a King Suite and a Double Queen), and both were spacious, minimalist in design, with very comfortable beds and modern bathrooms. The King Suite also had a sofa bed, though we didn’t need to use it.Breakfast was included with our rate and offered a nice variety, more than we expected for a Courtyard. The is also a little market (CRATE) which has lots of grab and go options, drinks (alcoholic and not) and snacks. Another major plus: FREE PARKING which was especially appreciated since we drove in from Phoenix. We’d absolutely stay here again. TIP: If you’re planning to attend the Air Show, book early—rooms fill up quickly!

Clean Hotel, Friendly Staff, Elite Suite Upgrade

    rating02 May 2025

I travel to San Diego fairly often and have stayed at most of the Marriott/Bonvoy properties...this was my first stay at the CY Miramar. Prior to checking in I used the Bonvoy app to communicate with the front desk and was upgraded to a very nice suite. I only had one night at the property and extra space made the stay very comfortable. A suite upgrade is always appreciated...never expected. The hotel is located near a highway and major streets and very easy to find. The free parking is a nice ammenity for SD hotels...parking was plentiful. My room was ready when I arrived. Waiting to be checked-in I surveyed the lobby area and "Pantry". Nice and spacious lobby and very clean. The suite was nicely furnished and had plenty of USB outlets. The window had a view of the area. Thermostat was easy to read and operate and was fully functional.A good property...showing a little age but a bit nicer than many Courtyards where I have stayed. Room rate was very fair...location, free parking and friendly staff make it a winner. I will consider the Courtyard Miramar for my future visits to the area.

RUN!! Don't stay here - incredibly noisy and front desk staff & management rude

    rating29 Apr 2024

I made a reservation three weeks in advance and then called the hotel to verify they would be able to accommodate our request. Our request was a quiet room away from an elevator, high floor. I'm having surgery, would really appreciate quiet. The person I spoke with said it was not a problem. I called two days before to make sure we were still okay on our request, now they tell me they aren't sure they can because they are fully booked. That's why I called two weeks earlier to make sure you are aware of my request. If you couldn’t accommodate us, we could have made alternative plans. We show up on the day of check in, the front desk clerk, Steve Potasangre was horrible!! Construction going on next door, they put us in a room facing the construction with the elevator on the other side of the wall and changed us from two queens to a king. Remember when we asked for quiet, away from an elevator and two queens?!? I guess not.So, they move us to a handicap room with the shower to my waist and TERRIBLE water pressure. Took about 10 mins. (not exaggerating) to get hot water. Called to the front desk and the girl was laughing saying, "You asked for two queens."Called and talked to their manager, Brenda Gardner, left a message, she never called back. Called back in today, she stated she didn’t return the call because she had no desire to speak with me. Well, I see where horrific leadership flows down. Brenda was one of the rudest people ever, she hung up on me and admitted they put us in the handicapped room on purpose to make us upset. We stayed there when it was Holiday Inn, and the employees were much nicer. The rooms were not nice, and the bed was uncomfortable. I'm truly surprised Marriott has put their name on this hotel because there are so many things about it that don’t live up to Marriott standards. Beware, you will be disappointed by this property.
