    My first solo trip as a female and there wasn’t a single time I felt unsafe. Great staff and clean rooms. The rooftop was beautiful and well maintained!

    Neat old hotel in a changing area. Good service, clean rooms and liked the top patio best over eight days. When walking north to the east/west Cable Car street was safety iffy late night. Walking south on 5th Ave to Padres Pk and the Bay Front seemed safer.

    This hotel is a great old hotel - about 120 years old. It has great craftsmanship throughout with marble, wood, and brass everywhere. Our room was well appointed, clean, and very comfortable. Service was great. The Melting Pot restaurant on the first floor is a must-go restaurant - it was excellent. And they have a pub in the basement which was fun and very convenient. We booked here because it was so close to the Melting Pot restaurant. So glad we did. We will be back again, for this great hotel which is walking distance to all the great places throughout the Gas Lamp District

    Would absolutely recommend staying! What a beautiful historic building. The Vella parking was a life saver so fast and convenient and we did not meet an employee of the hotel that was not wonderful!
