No hot water. Horrible customer service

    rating22 May 2026

I checked in on may 21 2026 and was put in room 415. I took a cold shower because there wasn't any hot water. I spoke with the front desk after and was switched to room 210. The next morning may 22, I had to take another cold shower because there was no hot water. When I came down to check out, multiple guests were saying they didn't have hot water on the 4th floor. I spoke with the lady with the bandana at the front desk at 7am and she was dismissive of my concerns. She said she didn't put me in those rooms and that not all the rooms on the 4th floor had problems. Only a section of the building was having water heater problems. Had she been more understanding, I would have been fine but her unwarranted attitude towards me was disheartening. I didn't show no attitude to her. General Manager, Agency / Consultant at Hampton Inn San Diego/Mission Valley, responded to this review Dear Guest,We sincerely apologize for the experience you had during your stay with us, including the inconvenience caused by the lack of hot water in your room.We are very sorry this issue affected multiple parts of your stay and that your concerns were not handled with the level of care and professionalism we expect from our team. Nice place and value for what you pay

    rating23 Apr 2026

Nice place, but worn out and needs a renovation. The breakfast was limited, but good. The staff who took care of the buffet were fantastic! The front desk staff were great! Very responsive! The bed was lumpy and the shower was old and tired. The furniture was banged up, but usable. The TV and refrigerator worked fine.I had some trepidation after reading some of the reviews of this motel, but it was not as bad as they stated. I was not shocked and the price was reasonable However, the hotel is on a street called Hotel Circle, which are the service roads on both sides of the highway which is chock FULL of Marriott, Hiltons,Best Westerns, and affiliates. If you don’t like it here, you can go elsewhere.I got what I paid for and was satisfied. General Manager, Agency / Consultant at Hampton Inn San Diego/Mission Valley, responded to this review Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful review with us, Sightsee22705535992. We are pleased to know our team at the buffet and front desk made a positive impression and that you found the overall value to be reasonable. At the same time, we recognize your comments about the condition of your room and the areas that could benefit from updates. Our housekeeping and engineering teams will take your feedback to heart as we plan for future improvements. We appreciate you giving Hampton Inn San Diego/Mission Valley a try, and your perspective will help us keep raising the bar for our guests.

    Surprised !

    rating29 Mar 2026

After looking at some reviews I was a little apprehensive at booking at any hotel .My concerns were unfounded. The room was great ! It was ADA compliant so the room was BIG. We lucked out on this one. The room was clean and smelled nice. Big screen TV with a great picture and pretty good sound. The mini refrigerator was cold and the ice machine is located at # 19 on every floor. It was a couple of doors down from us. Located in the center of the hallways. Nice big machines no problem getting ice. Extra blanket in closet. Two levels of comfort for the pillows which was a nice touch. The towels were a surprise. They actually had some body heft to them. No problem drying off. Extras were in the over head. Two things to note which shows you I don't travel much. The a/c is controlled by the box on the wall not the a/c unit itself. Because I didn't know that I had the hotel engineer come up and he explained how it worked. In some reviews the people said that the a/c didn't work. Well the engineer explained that above 72 the heater comes on and below 72 the a/c comes kicks in. Must be a San Diego thing. Also the shower was a little tricky to operate. Because it's a ADA compliant room the shower controls were unfamiliar to me. Two control levers instead of one. But with a little monkeying around I figured it out. Water pressure was forceful using the handheld wand. The water got hot pretty fast and stayed that way. I can't say anything about the free breakfast because we didn't eat any. I will say that the waffles looked and smelled delicious ! Plain ice water and orange flavored water stations in the lobby. We didn't use the pool or hot tub so I can't comment on them .You have to pay for parking. $27 a night. But I got a discount being a veteran. The staff were very professional and friendly. Service requests were handled FAST i.e.- Engineer. Hotel is in a great location. Turn left leaving the entrance and stay on the road and you will be in Old Town in less than five minutes. We will definitely stay here again ! General Manager, Agency / Consultant at Hampton Inn San Diego/Mission Valley, responded to this review Thank you for sharing such a thorough and thoughtful review, Tom. It is wonderful to know your experience at Hampton Inn San Diego/Mission Valley exceeded your expectations after some initial concerns. We are so glad your ADA compliant room provided the comfort and space you were hoping for, and that our housekeeping and engineering teams were able to support your needs during your stay. Your feedback about the room details, amenities, and helpful explanations from our onsite team means a lot to us.Hearing that our location worked well and that you found our team members professional and welcoming truly brightens our day. We appreciate you highlighting so many aspects of your visit, from the pillows to the easy ice access and the attentive service. It is also great to know the veteran discount made a difference for you.We look forward to welcoming you back the next time you visit San Diego!

Disappointing Experience: Poor Accessibility & Lack of Care

    rating17 Feb 2026

I recently booked four rooms here for a family stay, specifically selecting this hotel because we needed a handicapped-accessible room for my sister, who uses a wheelchair. Unfortunately, the experience was substandard from start to finish.First a couple positives: Yolanda at the front desk was helpful leading up to our arrival, researching the ADA room layout when engineering was not able to give her an answer. Also, the staff who oversees the breakfast each morning is very attentive and friendly, providing a very positive experience. That's all for the good. The Room Issues (Room 216):Mechanical Failure: The HVAC unit in the accessible room emitted a constant, high-pitched screech that made sleep or even conversation nearly impossible. When we reported the issue, we were told no other accessible rooms were available. Their "fix" was to give us a pedestal fan and tell us to open the window—forcing my sister to choose between a stifling room or loud highway noise all night. To make matters worse, housekeeping actually removed the fan from her room the next morning to give it to another guest, leaving her with no ventilation at all.The onsite staff seemed unable to provide a functional solution for a guest with specific accessibility needs. Furthermore, the manager was unavailable for the duration of our stay, leaving us to deal with these unacceptable conditions without any real resolution. We chose this property with the confidence that my sister’s needs would be met. Instead, she was left in an uncomfortable, unventilated room. For a hotel to fail so significantly on a basic accessibility request—and then take away the only temporary fix provided—is truly disappointing.Bottom line: If you rely on ADA-accessible rooms or expect basic climate control and proactive service, I would look elsewhere.Note: I still have not received a response from hotel management - I emailed them 3 days ago. General Manager, Agency / Consultant at Hampton Inn San Diego/Mission Valley, responded to this review We want to thank you, Paull, for taking the time to share such a detailed and thoughtful account of your family's experience. We are genuinely sorry that your stay presented serious challenges, especially with the mechanical issue in your sister’s accessible guest room and the responsive care you needed from our team. It is deeply disappointing to know that both the room conditions and our follow-up were so inadequate during a stay that was booked with your sister’s needs foremost in mind. You are absolutely right to expect a seamless, comfortable experience when accessibility is at stake. Not only did we fail to provide a working solution for the ventilation problem through our engineering and housekeeping teams, but we also did not follow through on proper communication or support from management, both in person and after your departure. We will be addressing your comments with our Guest Relations, housekeeping, and engineering teams to ensure no future guest is left in such a position. We do appreciate you highlighting the positive interactions with Yolanda and our breakfast team, and will share those words with them. Most of all, Paull, we are truly sorry that we fell short in meeting your family's essential needs. Your feedback will guide immediate training and accountability so we can do better for guests who depend on us. Thank you again for making us aware and giving us the opportunity to learn from your experience.
