    Noisey upstairs ruined this stay. Nothing was done by front desk.

    We visit San Diego at least 2 times a year my wife and kids love staying here everytime they love the seclude hotel nice and calm vibe that was until we visited for Thanksgiving 2025 and checked out 12/2 we came in for WWE event at Petco park. We paid over 975 bucks and we had a noisey upstairs person. I called the front office and was told they were checking out that day and it would end next time I called they told me they would tell the manager. Never was I offered to be moved. Then I was questioned and followed about breakfast because they thought I wasn’t staying there. $24 bucks for parking a night. I paid $120 bucks in parking. I’m having a San Diego trip in August 2026 and I need a place to stay and this place might of lost its place as my go to. Very dissapointing stay.

    I have stayed two nights in the Holiday Inn Express by IHG, San Diego Mission valley and would, overall, recommend it to anyone.However, I have had a generally mixed experience, Pros and Cons are listed below:+ Great location;+ Bright interior;+ Friendly staff.- expensive;- parking additionally 24$ per night;- breakfast for s.o. with coeliac disease.     Location is great, management not so great.

    Location: Convenient as hell! Cleanliness: Above average. Breakfast: Typical. Grounds: Up to date and pretty. Pool and Hot tub: Poor, pool was very grungy on the bottom and the hot tub wasn't opened and was chained off for my week stay. However, the pool area was a great place to have breakfast and watch the amazing amount of wildlife on the hill behind the hotel. Hummingbirds everywhere! Bed was very comfortable but some blankets in the closet would have been nice too. Now the bad: The hotel manager, Im an IGH member and when booking a hotel for a solid week, you expect a hint of better customer service. We arrived at 3:30 for a 4pm check in, and were turned away. We weren't even ask to stay for a minute to see if they could get a room ready, we were simply told come back at 4pm. Other hotels will offer to take your luggage instead of you carrying it back to your car but not here. Poor management. As for parking, it is ludicrous but if you are a AAA member, you can get it reduced to 15.00 a day if you book through them. Hotel staff were great and the staff attending to the breakfast area, were fantastic at keeping up and keeping things clean. As always HIE cinnamon rolls are the best mmmmm.     Good Stay With Some Minor Issues

    We stayed 4 nights at the HIEX in Mission Valley. The location was perfect near shops and restaurants. We were also near downtown’s attractions. The hotel was clean and modern with a good breakfast included. The king bed was comfortable. There was some noise that came through the walls and adjoining door. Another downside was the $24 per day parking for a regular lot and small parking garage under the building. They did have a pack-n-play for our 1-year-old. Overall, this property met our needs well and we had a good stay.

    TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE

    DO NOT STAY HERE… I checked in on 12/22/25 and clearly informed the front desk that I just booked the room to use for the day to have a place to work in and pass time while our dog was having a procedure and he said ok. I had already paid for the night. While we were there a maintenance man opened our door and came into our room unannounced which was very frightening as he did not even knock. When my dog’s procedure was done, I figured I would give them back the room keys so they could possibly turn the room over and use for another guest since I had already paid for the night. The new front desk man thanked me and ONLY said are you sure, if you change your mind you can come back. I again informed him that we were only there to have a place to stay while my dog had his procedure and he said I understand. On our way home I find out that they charged me $140 on top of what I had already paid for the room due to an early check out fee. I called them and they were not at all accommodating and would only converse with me via email so I emailed them and received a generic response with no resolution. I then asked if I could come back and get my room back since that is what I was told and never received a response to that question. I travel weekly for business and am a Platinum Elite IHG member. In ALL my years I have never been treated like this. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM AT ALL. I could have just left my keys in my room and they would have never known I was gone but because I wanted to be nice and give them the opportunity to possibly book the room again I got taken for $140.
