  Cats and Dogs!

  Whether or not you'll like this hotel depends on your preferences. If you like boutique hotels, love the beach, and like being near bars and restaurants this is the hotel for you. The beach is litterally out the front door. There are lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance. Some of the clientele at some of the bars were a little rough looking, and there were several homeless people in the area. I wouldn't feel safe as a woman walking by myself, but I felt reasonably safe with my husband and our doberman. The parking lot was well lit and the lobby looked out onto the parking lot and was staffed 24/7. If you like large luxurious rooms, this hotel is not for you. The room was okay; the bathroom was tiny and didn't have the most convenient layout. There was no place to set our toiletries. This hotel is dog friendly and does not discriminate against big dogs. However, there are 9 cats that roam around the hotel property, so be aware if you have a dog who has cat problems!   The staff are amazing but the hotel is terrible. It’s dark dingy although clean. It’s noisy, lots of bad language at all hours of the morning. The walls and roof is paper thin. You can hear every stepPeople take in their rooms. Nothing like the photos. Definitely over priced. We had a bottom floor room. It was so dark with no daylight you had to have the light on all the time. The bathroom is tiny. No towel rails no where to even put your toothbrush. The area is a drug infested. We were offered everytime we left the hotel. Lots of homeless and weirdo’s. The stairs are steep and then there are all the dogs doing you know everywhere and barking too at times. No pool but a nice courtyard area to sit in. The surrounding area is not appealing. Although there are good options available. The beach is grotty but we enjoyed watching the surfers. It’s a very old outdated hotel. Just incredible noisy. All hours of the night. The staff couldn’t fault. Welcoming, friendly. There is a washer and dryer coin operated which was a bonus.   Smoking drug smells from our balcony

  We took an ocean view with balcony and there was a guy who came every day selling smoking drugs, every evening we sat on the balcony and smelt the drugs which was not good for the 2 children. Also lots and lots of homeless people smelling and it just made us feel uncomfortable. We will never return please take this into account before booking.   We came to San Diego to visit some friends we haven’t seen in awhile. We chose the Ocean Beach Hotel because of the location. It is close to the pier and walking distance to so many things. Overall, it was a nice hotel. There is free self-parking and the hotel is well-maintained. Eduardo was so friendly and helpful, suggesting places to visit and eat. The room was neat and the balcony had a nice view of the ocean. We were happy that it had a refrigerator to hold our drinks and fruits. The only major negative was it was a little noisy and the neighboring area felt a bit sketchy, but I’d come back again for sure.   Not bad but not the greatest hotel.

  Positive comments..Extremely close to the beach and many other things to do within walking distance. Restaurants, little shops, bars and of course the beach. Also staff was very helpful friendly. Negative comments.. Room smelled old and musty. Bathroom was not clean, toilet so close to the sink you could go to the bathroom and brush your teeth at the same time. Bed not comfortable, tv and phone did not work. Then we had planes flying over the hotel all night long very loud. Also the walls seemed very thin. Heard the neighbors tv and the man yawning in the next room and my husband thought I was snoring but it was not I. Recommended it if you want to be close to a lot of things but do not recommend because of the all the negative I had to say.
