Location

This hotel is situated in downtown San Diego, overlooking San Diego Bay and the city's skyline. It is minutes away from San Diego Airport, the San Diego Convention Center, San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, Little Italy, Sea World, and the Historic Gaslamp Quarter. There is a complimentary shuttle service to transport guests to San Diego Downtown locations and scheduled trips to the San Diego Zoo and Sea World are available. The Greyhound bus station is 5 minutes' drive from the hotel and it is 5 minutes to the Santa Fe Depot railway station. Old Town San Diego is 5 minutes by car and guests can shop at Fashion Valley (7 minutes' drive) or at La Mesa (15 minutes' drive). San Diego Airport is just 4 km from the hotel.

Facility

The hotel has 92 single rooms and 128 double rooms, which are located on 16 storeys and are reachable by lift. The reception desk is open round the clock.     The lobby appeared clean, had a small, but decent size seating area.The breakfast buffet was the typical buffet breakfast included at many hotels, they had pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs and potatoes. Also the hostess offered us juice and coffee too. The cost for us was $20 person, some people have it included in their room fee.The room, was a bit dark ( 4th floor). The overall the room was okay. The only thing is that the tub looks to need a refurbishment or be cleaned better. I wore my beach shoes to take a shower, but the water was backing up, so it was a defeat effort. My husband took out the stopper and the water flowed freely after that. The hotel is a short walk to the many restaurants in the area.The staff we encountered at the front desk, and in the dining area were friendly and accommodating.

    Spring Break getaway - Good bang for your buck - mid-tier hotel that wont break the bank

    Lots of mixed reviews online for this hotel - and all make sense now - there is a lot going for and against this place. Pros: 1. The staff were great, very attentive and always happy to help with any room needs we had - the team at The Dextro are one of its finest assets and we appreciated them. 2. Location is decent - just 10 minutes walk to Little Italy main strip (India Street ) which has many great restaurants and a cool vibe, too. The hotel is also within a reasonable walking distance to the amazing Balboa Park (1.5 miles) and awesome USS Midway (1.3 miles) - two highly recommended spots to see for anyone looking to keep up their step count and take in some culture.3. The room was clean and the beds were actually very comfortable (bed snob here!). Granted, the bathroom could do with some updates but it was fully functional for our needs.Cons: 1. The outdoor pool needs cleaning / cleaning more frequently - we used the pool once and it was full of leaves and dead bugs - I ended up getting the net off the wall to give it a mini clean myself (!)- needless to say, we didn't use it for long. 2. Decor - the hotel has had some uplift in parts but still has a tired look and feel about it. 3. Breakfast cost - we couldn't bring ourselves to pay $20 per person for breakfast - a family of 4 (2x adults + 2x kids (ages 13+11)) would be $80 for a basic breakfast - we wouldn't get value for money from that so brought food in or went out each day. I'd recommend the hotel considers more options on pricing for breakfast if it wants more guests to take up on it - e.g. a child value option. All in all, this hotel was value for money - no frills but reasonable.

    Room smelled like dirty feet! Window faced the parking lot and a stairwell used 24/7. The gate banged 24/7 on the stairwell. Room was dark and dreary.
