    This hotel has brand new renovations (an impressive complete overhaul, actually) with modern styling and looks great. Everything was extremely clean and the hotel itself has a subtle, pleasant fragrance. If you've stayed at other Marriott Courtyards, the room itself is consistent with other franchise properties, so no surprises there. The staff at the front desk and valet/bell hop were excellent, extremely friendly and attentive and at least those that I interacted with seemed to operate at a high level of experience, which I very much appreciated. That said, this hotel is really more of an oasis - while it says "union square" - it's located ~4/5 blocks away from union square itself and it's really more accurately in the tenderloin, which you will notice immediately upon stepping out the front door - and do literally watch your step if you happen to walk any distance down the block or you may actually step in something unpleasant. While I myself didn't have any issues and I wasn't expecting any or anything like that at all, of course, but, the local residents in the neighborhood were, ummm, different from what I was maybe expecting to encounter. So, yeah. Anyway, the hotel looks very nice inside.     Nice straightforward hotel

    Nice hotel. I was worried with the reviews but this is a very decent Courytard. I interacted with three front desk associates and they were all nice. Antoinette was the best. She was very kind and warm and friendly when I checked in. Made it seem like I was coming "home.". The rooms were renovated and clean. My king room did seem small if size is an issue for people. The downstairs lobby also is well done and seems quite modern.     Easy to reach and to get around the city, Union Square is just a few blocks away from the well-nominated Union Square. The hotel itself, the room, facilities, and grounds have been comfortable, clean and tidy, staff friendly and supportive, therefore I felt so free to attach a few photos below.     Would not recommend for family

    I would not recommend for neither business nor family. The rooms are like 40-45 Sqft total. No room to move around and lot of steel inside which makes it not kids friendly. Restrooms are tiny and are not safer due to steel and not much room to move around. Overall disappointed with the experience. Only thing that may be good I have seen is proximity to the downtown.It’s very old hotel that was renovated in bits and pieces. Restrooms uses all the old fittings not ideal for kids.     Staff makes all the difference

    I stayed here with 3 friends in February for a girls trip. We had a fantastic stay. A'Mia, the front desk supervisor, was graciously able to accommodate a last minute request at check in. Nicole who appeared to be in 10 places at once the entire 5 days we were there was amazing. Every staff member we had interactions with was friendly and helpful. The location is very convenient to anywhere in town you may need to go, without the need to rent a vehicle. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
