    Clean and Noisy

    rating27 Mar 2026

I was aware the this is an "alternative" style of hotel on SFO. It matches the review and description. Therefore it was no surprise. The Pros - Convenient location, clean room, daily room cleaning, comfortable sheets and towels. The Cons - VERY tight restroom where you can barely move, VERY noisy room - you can hear everything on Bush St and from your neighbour room, including when the guest is having nightmares and dropping his stuff.During RSAC there is not much options and as I was late on my registration. It is close to Moscone Center but make sure that you don´t leave it to the last minute , so you may have better options. Perlaine Gracia, Owner at Hotel Des Arts, responded to this review Hello,Thank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and balanced review. We truly appreciate your understanding of our “alternative” hotel style and are glad it matched your expectations overall. We’re happy to hear you enjoyed our convenient location, cleanliness, and the comfort of our linens and our team works hard to make sure these basics are consistently delivered. We also appreciate your honest feedback regarding the restroom size and noise levels. As a historic property in a busy part of the city, some rooms can indeed feel more compact, and street or neighboring noise may occasionally be noticeable. That said, your comments are valuable and help us continue exploring ways to improve our guests’ comfort. We’re especially glad our location served you well during RSAC, and we completely agree that booking early can really open up more options during such a busy event.Thank you again for staying with us, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future!

You get what you pay for

    rating15 Feb 2026

I checked in at 8pm with two bags, one oversized. The guy at the front desk stared at me with a smile on his face while I struggled to open the door and get my bags in. Then when I asked for a place to grab a quick bite to eat he said there was no good food in SF and that I should do DoorDash. This is such a bare bones hotel it’s barely worth it. The bathroom was so small you couldn’t open the door and access the sink. I only found one outlet in the room. I couldn’t find any temperature control besides turning off the radiator, which was set at full blast despite it being in the 60s. Good location, though. Perlaine Gracia, Owner at Hotel Des Arts, responded to this review Hello,Thank you for your feedback. We’re very sorry your arrival experience fell short and this is not the service we aim to provide, and we’ll be addressing this with our team. We also apologize for the unhelpful dining recommendation; we should have offered better guidance. We understand that our room layouts, including the compact bathroom and traditional heating system, may not suit everyone, and we appreciate your honest comments. We’re glad our location was a positive during your stay, and we truly value your feedback as we work to improve.

Bed bugs and faulty fire alarms

    rating27 Jan 2026

The fire alarm went off in my room each night (all after 10:30pm). The first 2 nights someone was there to turn it off. However the 3rd night it took 30 mins for it to turned off (11:30pm). They knew this was an issue because on the 2nd night someone was sent up to warn me it would go off. There didn’t seem to be any action towards actually fixing the issue. I was offered a 20% discount. Over the first few days I noticed a few itchy lumps but dismissed it. However after eventually getting to sleep after the fire alarm going off, I woke at 4am covered in bites…then I discovered huge beg bugs. At this point I’d had enough and booked another hotel. Whilst the customer service was prompt and apologetic they didn’t try to fix any of the issues. The staff working at the reception were very good, although only there for 2 days. I did get a refund for the third night and the remaining sightings. The whole thing was so stressful I ended up with gastritis. I’ve since had to see the Doctor for treatment for the bites as well. Avoid!!! Perlaine Gracia, Owner at Hotel Des Arts, responded to this review Dear Katie,We are very sorry to hear about your experience and sincerely apologize for the distress this caused during your stay. The repeated fire alarm disruptions and the delay in fully resolving the issue were unacceptable, and we regret the inconvenience this caused. We are especially concerned by the pest issue you reported. This was taken seriously, and the room was immediately removed from service and treated by licensed professionals, with further inspections completed. While our team responded promptly and provided refunds for the affected nights, we understand this did not make up for your experience. Your feedback has been shared with management to ensure improvements in maintenance response and issue resolution. We do appreciate your kind comments about our front desk staff.

Bed Bug in the room. I had to see the doctor Christmas Day

    rating26 Dec 2025

Stayed in Hotel Des Arts 12/24/25. I woke up in the middle of the night with bed bugs bites on my hands, arms, neck and left eye swollen. I went to the doctor in the afternoon of 12/25/25 and it was decided that the bites are bed bug bite. I will never stay here or recommend this hotel to anyone, and I'm also going to call San Francisco Health department. Perlaine Gracia, Owner at Hotel Des Arts, responded to this review Hello,We are very sorry to hear about your experience and sincerely regret the discomfort this caused. Once this concern was reported, the room was immediately taken out of service and treated by licensed pest control professionals, with additional inspections conducted as a precaution.Guest safety and cleanliness are extremely important to us, and we take reports like this very seriously. Your feedback has been shared with management to ensure continued monitoring and preventive measures moving forward.

    This hotel needs some work

    rating17 Sept 2025

This hotel could Really use concierge but does have and forces you to use an app. I stood there in lobby for 6 mins waiting concierge but and help from the janitor. The hotel it self is of but could use some remodeling. Small but average for SF.
