No-frills budget lodging near the Presidio

    rating17 Jan 2026

Hotels (and motels) in SF are obscenely expensive during the 2nd week of January, otherwise I would normally opt for more traditional brand-name accommodations, and usually closer to downtown. One thing that attracted me to the property is its proximity to the Presidio and the nice cafes/restaurants on nearby Chestnut St. However, there are few amenities, as to be expected. The walls are also very thin and the bathroom floor can be very slippery, at least in the room that I had. I felt like the property was reasonably safe. I give it 4 out of 5 because of the value, but you have to manage expectations if you normally stay at traditional, nationally-known hotels.

    Great Service Support.

    rating26 Mar 2023

I didn’t actually go to the hotel, i had a booking there, and due to some circumstances I had to cancel my reservation last minute. I received a package there that was supposed to be sent to me, and the hotel staff were super responsive, very helpful and supportive for me to get my package back to New York. This shows true commitment to service and cusotmer satisfaction. Thank you Jack for your amazing support.

    Beware of disrepair

    rating22 Sept 2022

I don’t like writing 1-star reviews. Seems mean. But honestly, I cannot recommend this place. While my room was clean and serviceable, 11 other colleagues also stayed here at the same time. In other words, we had a sample size of 12, which is nearly all the rooms at this motel. Two colleagues' rooms had showers that didn’t work. Two coworkers found pubic hair on their walls and “clean” towels. One was near an ice machine or something that woke him up every 20 minutes along with shutters that didn't close. One had an air conditioner that was non-functional. And another had a toilet that didn’t work.Isolated incidents can be forgiven, but when six rooms have issues, it’s an obvious pattern of disrepair. When one colleague complained about the pubic hair on her wall and ceiling, the owner/manager didn’t believe her. She even showed him photos and he still refused to acknowledge that the room was improperly cleaned or that it was their fault. There is wifi, but it's slower than LTE, so it's not worth connecting to. I performed a speed test and the wifi here is 1.88 Mbps down and 0.92 Mbps up.Finally, the room prices were jacked up because of Dreamforce (the annual Salesforce conference in The City). At $329 per night, this motel was NOT at all worth it. It's probably not even worth it at $50 per night.

    Good Value for the Money

The best parts of this place are the location and the price. If you in SFO to explore the city on foot. You can track to Golden Gate bridge and few beaches on foot within 60 minutes. There are few restaurants and stores within 5 minutes walk.

    Do not stay here.

    rating06 Feb 2020

Worst place I have ever stayed... Rude, argumentative staff who triple charged us for rooms and would not accept responsibility until I called my bank and had them speak to them. When we tried to leave early they deducted another $1000 from my credit card . They only refunded when I told them I wasn't leaving reception until they did so and got my bank on the phone to them again. We asked for early check in and adjacent rooms and arrived exhausted only to be told to go away for three hours as rooms werent ready. We had a noisy (think jet engine) generator outside our room but it didn't drown out the constant yelling from the cleaning staff from dawn until dusk. Also really appreciated them leaving contents from bathroom bins lying on walkway in clear plastic bags for hours. Beds were comfortable but rest was impossible due to thin walls and noisy bar next door. Night before we left 6 college students moved in below us to party. That was the final straw.Room was dark, smelly and filthy. Hair in sink, annd shower didn't work properly.Nightmare experience for us.
