  I recommend The Lombard Plaza Motel in San Francisco

  Right on Lombard Street. Close to everything. You can walk to Chestnut Street or Marina Green or Fort Mason, really anywhere. They have parking there too, which is at a premium in San Francisco. Eric at the front desk was very kind and personable. The room was very comfortable and everything was in proper working order. Comfortable bed and plenty of towels for your morning shower.

  What I like about Lombard Street in general is that it is located near many restaurants and shopping venues. I was going to an event at Fort Mason on Saturday March 7, 2026. The event started at 1:30 PM. Check-in to the motel was at 3:00. Eric at the front desk was kind enough to allow me to park in their private lot at the property and walk to Fort Mason, which is what I wanted to do. The room was very comfortable and had all that I needed for a good nights sleep. The Marina Green and Chestnut Street is in very close walking distance. Staying on Lombard Street is a good alternative to the really expensive hotels. The Lombard Plaza Motel was an enjoyable stay in the City.

  Good cleanliness and value, but issues with the AC

  Overall our stay was nice at this motel and it felt like a good value for what it offered. Everything was very clean and our King bed room was spacious. The hardwood floors were great compared to the carpets you often find at other motels and the bed was very comfortableThe room didn’t have a lot of natural light with only a medium sized window (with slats you can open/shut) for the whole space, but that made it nice for sleeping in. Our room was towards the back of the parking lot away from the street and on the second floor, so no problems with noiseLocation is great and nearby lots of bars and restaurants. However this part of Lombard has pretty dirty sidewalks which made it slightly less pleasant to walk around nearby with no car. But that’s not really an issue because it’s much cleaner on Chestnut / Fillmore which you can get over to easilyThe fridge, microwave, flat screen TV, and coffee pot were really nice to have in the room. Laundry is coin operated but you can exchange bills for coins in the lobby, and we were even given laundry pods which was very nice of the staffThe only downside we encountered was that our particular room was VERY humid. I don’t see other reviews stating this so I assume it’s specific to our room / AC unit. The AC unit we had did not produce dry air - much the opposite. It seemed like the air it produced was more humid than the air outside - to the point where my partner’s glasses would fog up on entering. SF can be damp and indoor spaces generally aren’t well insulated from the outdoors (it was raining heavily for part of our stay with very high outdoor humidity), but it was egregious inside the room because the AC was making it worse. From what I've read, this can indicate the AC unit needs cleaning and/or maintenance. Towards the end we stopped running it at all together. Also note that it’s the type of AC that cycles on and off and you’re unable to run the fan constantly at a low level. You can set a temperature but it’s really just hot vs cold air in actuality.

  Strong chemical odor

  Really REALLY strong chemical odor in our toom from their cleaning agents. Gave our baby a rash and made her cry immediately. Could not stay for more than 1 minute. Denied me a refund. Would NOT recommend. I really wanted to like the place, people were nice enough…unfortunately it had a very harsh chemical odor that hurt my two month baby
