    Wonderful gem in a great SF location

    What an amazing find in a great part of SF! We were looking for a place to stay that was comfy and homey. The Monte Cristo fit the bill in every way. The rooms are lovely, the bathroom is clean and updated, and the complimentary breakfasts are DIVINE! We also greatly enjoyed the snacks and beverages available at all times of the day and night-- cookies, nut mixes, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, banana bread, brownies, and more. The staff is exceedingly friendly and they are there to help whenever needed. Our room was very private and quiet and, although others were staying there, we often felt like we were the only guests. Everyone was very quiet and respectful. The neighborhood is very walkable with restaurants, bakeries, and coffee shops nearby. We will definitely return!

    We had a lovely stay. The place extrudes old San Francisco charm over and over. Beautiful well appointed rooms in a historic building. The included breakfast is delicious and you’ll always find great snacks in the afternoon in the dining room. The establishment is fully renovated, clean and super cozy. The bed is soo comfortable. Definitely a place to stay. Very central but in a very quite attractive location.

    A lovely little place that is full of rich antique decor, wonderful hosts and wonderful staff, comfortable rooms, and just a general feel of a special psrt of San Francisco life. Only downside is our room got pretty hot, but didn't deter from a lovely visit.

    Superb comfort in a 'home from home'

    This guest house provided a most wonderful experience: calm, friendly, cosy and an all round delight for guests. It is traditionally furnished with glorious wallpapers and antique furniture but there was nothing old or old fashioned about the bathrooms. An all-day 'tea' was provided for guests with home-made cakes and cookies (virtually all gluten free), fruits, snacks and beverages. Breakfast was delicious and special requests remembered. It is a gem of a place and well-positioned in Pacific Heights, a great place from which to explore the city, parks, and waterfronts.

    Once again Monte Cristo was a fantastic experience! Wonderful, clean and well appointed rooms. Comfortable beds, lots of storage, nice pillows and plenty of towels. Daily housekeeping was a plus. Delicious cooked to order breakfast and all day cookies and other snacks. Great location and very quiet at night. Jack sees to all the details. We will be back!
