A nice and clean hostal near Downtown San Francisco

    rating21 May 2026

Music city hostel is a very nice and clean hostel. The staff are helpful and friendly. I stayed at a two people female Capsuel which is a little expensive than the four people or six people dorms. I think it's worth of it. I like the privacy and the lovely garden view from my desk. And the closet is nice and effecient. The hostel is about 7 minutes walking distance to Trader Joe's and CVS on Hyde street, and 8 minuets walking distance to the Whole food market on California street, and close to the #2, #19, and other bus stops.

Music City Hotel is a pretty decent hotel. They have dormitory-style cupsules for a reasonable price. Location is good and staff is friendly.Facilities are a bit limited, but it's OK for one or two nights.

Getting worse, too many long term tenants that accumulate a lot of stuff

    rating11 Jul 2025

Beds are uncomfortable but they have fully enclosed pods that are nice for privacy. As long as you don’t have an issue, it’s probably fine. But as soon as you ask the front desk something, they go crazy. Non responsive, no action even when someone is stalking a guest (not me, someone else that we told the front desk about twice and they did nothing). Things have gone downhill. They used to have music every night, now it’s 3 nights. Front desk staff keeps recycling and there’s always someone new because the previous people either left or were fired.

    MUSIC CITY is a gem!

We had a wonderful stay at Music City Hotel and participating at a concert there. The room and hotel were very clean and was attended by excellent staff. We loved the Janis Joplin room and enjoyed seeing the lovely photo gallery adorning the walls of this fantastic venue. We loved being in this central neighborhood and having close access to bars and restaurants and nearby attractions. The concerts at Music City were soo much fun! and working with the fantastic sound and production team. A special shout out to Arabella, Christy, and Escher for your awesome energy!

    Sad to see its downfall

    rating06 May 2025

I’ve stayed at MC Hotel six times, since their first month open. I’ve recommended it to others at least 10 times because it’s a great place—or used to be.It’s now pretty gross upstairs. Getting help after 11pm means calling an employee to come in from their house. One person left the hotel unattended because “they had a gig”. Randos can roam the halls via the venue access to the stairs on show nights–the door between the hotel, venue, and practice spaces is left open.It seems the venue and practice spaces are the focus now. Very cool place to see or play music! But stay somewhere else
