This charming business hotel is centrally located in San Francisco's So Ma District and offers easy access to the Powell Street tram station. The hotel is 3 blocks from Union Square and 2 blocks from SF Museum of Modern Art. Yerba Buena Gardens, which feature a bowling alley, ice skating rink and children's play area are 2 blocks away. San Francisco International Airport is 20 minutes from the hotel.

Facility

The hotel has 188 rooms, including 2 junior suites, suites, 112 single rooms and 73 double rooms, which are located on 8 storeys and are reachable by lift. Guests are warmly welcomed by English-speaking staff at the 24-hour reception desk in the lobby. Check-in/check-out service is available round the clock. Amenities include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe, cash machine and drinks machine. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available.     What I ordered vs. what I received in hotel form

    The hotel version of what I ordered... vs what I got .... The photos make this hotel look charming in a vintage classy kind of way.... but it is anything but that. I was so glad that I was only here 1 night. I wish I was there for only 0 nights. It is completely run down. Age does not mean a property has to be dirty and dilapidated either. From the makeup on the bathroom walls, hand prints on the mirrors in the room, chippped and dirty paint on the walls.... filthy tub that I would not dare step foot in.... paper thin walls, defective air conditioner.... to the sounds coming from the walls every 20 minutes all night long that sounded like the either the pipes or A/C units were falling down a shaft and crashing that startled me all night long... to being able to hear my neighbor vomiting in the shower the next morning as I was I was trying to get ready quickly and leave..... it was a thrilling experience. The carpets are old and stained. The paint everywhere is chipped and peeling. It was giving Hotel Cecil true crime documentary vibes. Everything is completely run through.... and for hundreds of dollars a night.... I expect more than a truck stop bathroom in a dingy hotel room. Even the curtains were pieced together with tape. I would rather sleep in a serial killers van before I stay here again. Its definitely cleaner.

    The hotel is 100 years old and is dated/in need of a refurb.Pro's:Handy location.Grand reception area.Room was clean.Bed was ok.Room amenities worked.Cons:Weak shower.Corridors stink of weed.Felt sketchy outside - lots of homeless/addicts.A personal one - our last night we got absolutely no sleep after 11pm. There was a party in the next room. Reported to the night manager after I asked the occupants of the room to cut it out twice. He did resolve temporarily. A couple of hours later they came back and carried on, reported again, nothing was done. This carried on through until about 9am...I wouldn't stay here again purely for the last night experience.

    We chose this hotel for the location. However, it was disgusting inside. The curtains were ripped and stained. When I called the front desk and asked to be moved before unpacking, considering housekeeping and maintenance wouldn't want to come change them at night, they gave a very scripted shock of not knowing and "actually" checked before saying there were no more rooms. The next day, they offered to move us but I told them how inconvenient that would be now, why can't they just change the curtains, like it's not hard. Never heard from them again. The paint job is disgusting too, regardless of how old the hotel is.
