    Super Bowl weekend - A weekend when hotels across San Fran were incredibly expensive, this hotel kept its prices at a very very reasonable rate. Yes, it is a VERY basic hotel and would greatly benefit from modernisation, but for the price it really was value for money. No regrets booking there. I would suggest to all travellers that you turn left when leaving the hotel rather than right. Special call out to the guy on reception on weekdays. Entertaining, interesting and really made me and my pal feel welcome.I would have no hesitation in staying there again if in San Fran.

    Hotel is in a nice location. I love that it is just a block away from the Nintendo store, many nice shops, and the ACT is right across the hotel as well.On the corner across the street, there is a 24-hour restaurant, so if you need food, it is there.There is also a Japanese restaurant right next door, and the food is good and at a great price.The room is nice as it is, tv is definitely out of date, but that is okay. There is Xfinity tv and a great selection to pick from to watch.The neighborhood is the TL area, so it is best not to wander around at night, especially if you are on your own. But if you are in a pair or group, you will be fine.Overall, it was a good experience.

    The hotel is in a very safe central location 1 block away from Macys and union square and very close to Post Street for tour pick ups. The hotel has a wonderful front desk person in Hansel he is very good and always greeted us with a friendly smile and always spoke to us so he is an asset to the Hotel and even helped us with our luggage so thank you Hansel so much. There is a lift and great rooms with comfy beds and good showers. It is a older building but as so much charm and we would stay there every time we come to San Francisco.     Our trip was a family emergency and after finding ourselves some what stranded in Fremont, away from the San Francisco action, we soon found The Union Square Plaza Hotel. As soon as I heard Hansel's voice over the phone, calm and very matter of fact. I knew this was the place, his humor made me laugh. A Victorian dwelling with a 70's feel, it was giving me Wood Allen vibes.Room 604 was our sanctuary amidst phone calls to family and the hospitals. The hotel is central to many conveniences, the 24 hour diner across the street, a fabulous Thai restaurant next door (some say it's the best in town), a laundromat 2 blocks away, Stillzy and Golden Gate Cannabis dispensary's as well as the bespoke Martin Lawrence gallery and a Blues/Jazz club around the corner. Our room overlooked the Toni Rembe and Curran theaters down in the street below which only seemed to sleep briefly in the early hours, as dedicated protestors stuck up for their rights of pay from the early morning till late. Quieter than New York, more bustle London. This hotel is very reasonably priced, house keeping are exceptional, Hansel is the man and my sister is doing fine!     The hotel is very nice with good maintenance. Great location. The owner Hansel is very detail oriented and went above and beyond to make my stay excellent. He allowed me to do an early check-in and helped my with my suitcases. My room was spacious with comfortable bed. The bathroom was clean. The price was reasonable at my stay. The location was the best with 10 minute-walk from Powell BART. I will come back in the future.
