    Expensive Hostel

    Most accurately described as an expensive hostel, the pictures overrepresent the quality of the Inn. Location was all right, but the room was dated, bathroom was across the hall and required a second pair of keys, and the lack of concierge complicated the experience.     I would stay at the Washington Square Inn again. The location is superb, a block or two from the heart of North Beach, but it was completely quiet at night. The price was very good for SF. However, you should know that the hotel is pretty rough around the edges. Shower handle a bit funky, carpet very worn in spots, aging tiles, mattress hardly in its first youth (but we slept well). If you want the bathroom in your room as opposed to across the hall, make sure to reserve ensuite.     Hot Hobbit hole

    Extremely small room. No A/c. Bathroom only a hobbit could fit in. Dirty and stained carpets. Left almost immediately. Would not recommend.     Great Stay in a Perfect Location!

    Had a great stay! The hotel was very clean, and we loved the mix of new and vintage furniture—really nice decor. The location is perfect, quiet but close to great restaurants, bars, and attractions like North Beach, Chinatown, and Coit Tower.Using our phone to open the door was super easy—just tap in the app, no need for key cards. We also had a great chat with someone from the hotel, very friendly and helpful.Everything was smooth from check-in to check-out. Would definitely stay here again!

    Worst experience we ever had.

    Do not stay here. It is not a hotel. No reception, no help if needed. Reception area is dirty and smelly. In addition, a homeless woman managed to stay in the reception area and made a lot of mess. A really bad place to stay. Room is also not clean, bed is uncomfortable.
