    Residence Inn San Jose Stay Away!

    Had to stay two nights. Room was filthy, desk no chair, sofa bed no mattress, kitchen no dishes and a fire alarm this morning. The least they could do is clean the room before they rent it. Also woke up to a fire alarm this morning. and had to evacuate, however they did not provide any follow up information to us. Not worth the price.     Lovely, clean room and kitchen. Comfortable bed. Great breakfast.The only ridiculous things is charging $12 for parking in their own lot, which isn't anywhere that justifies paid parking.Really poor service mindset on this.     Rude Front Desk Agent

    Me and my husband were looking for a hotel in the area , we were planning to make a reservation for the weekend. We are out of town also we walked in and the front desk lady I believe her name was Corine. I am a triple aaa member I always get a discount at other hotels she was very rude and made us feel like we weren’t welcome & I was trying to explain that I am a member I was able to get a lower rate at other hotels even if it wasn’t that much lower but she said she couldn’t provide the triple aaa discount and that she “wasn’t going to simple as that”. We were trying to explain it very nicely , she was very rude did not help us at all. Definitely would not come back she should not be working at a hotel that looks as nice as this.     Average among the Residence Inns I've stayed at.Rooms are clean and have modern amenities. Outdoor recreation area is relatively small, with a pool and bbq area.There's a small room with tables, adjacent to the lobby. Doubles as breakfast area and hang out area for people working.Staff was professional and moderately friendly.Breakfast was acceptable. Hot choices were fairly limited. I believe they had eggs and sausage daily, then rotated breakfast sandwiches and waffles. They had cereal with a lot of add-on grain options. Coffee was pretty good.They charge extra for parking. Keep that in mind when comparing rates.Didn't see any type of manager's reception / happy hour. Some Residence Inns have these.Overall there was nothing wrong. It just had more limited public spaces and food options than other properties.     Good value, inconsistent housekeeping

    We stayed for a few months and would stay again because of the friendly staff and value for the money.When we checked in, we were greeted right away. Staff was friendly and helpful--shout out to Roman and Kathy at the front desk, in particular!We stayed on a 1 BR on the 3rd floor overlooking the courtyard. As it got warmer, the courtyard got noisy as guests took advantage of the pool, sports court and grilling area.Our room was quiet, dark and somewhat dated but functional. There was a work desk in the living area and small kitchen table, so two of us could work on our computers. The kitchen had a fridge with icemaker, 2-burner stove top, microwave, dishwasher and kitchen supplies including small coffee maker. The Queen size bed was comfortable. The A/C threshold was capped at 68 but was tolerable during the months we were there, and we were able to open the window for fresh night air. The bathroom had decent water pressure for California. There was no in-room safe.Breakfast was ok - the breakfast staff were friendly and they hustled! But...whoever is in charge of food/breakfast supplies frequently let things run out. Ok, so you're not going to buy eggs when prices are obscene, we get it. But there were days and days with no yogurt, no (fresh) bananas, not even paper bowls.Their gym is small but has 2 treadmills, an elliptical, a recumbent bike and dumb bells. One of the treadmills was often glitching.They charge for parking.Housekeeping was inconsistent. We only asked for full cleans once a week, and no refresher visits. Yet we were never sure if we would get supplies restocked, and we had to request that they vacuum. The shower stall was not always cleaned.Wifi was ok. On video conference calls, we would sometimes get a "poor internet connection" message on our end. And we had selected the hotel's "high speed" internet option.The location is convenient. There's a Lucky grocery store across the street and plenty of shops, banks, restaurants within a mile or two. The hotel is very close to hwys 85 and 101.
