Great hotel with room to improve on customer service

    rating25 May 2026

The hotel is perfectly situated for exploring the national mall and nearby museums. Rooms are smaller but clean and have all the basic needs met. Relatively quiet considering the busy city area. Breakfast made it easy to get out and get the day started and the coffee was good! Unfortunately, the two front desk staff- Amber and Ameka seemed totally inconvenienced with any customer interaction. Ameka clearly didn't like Amber at all and was taking that out on the customers in line. This became a frequent topic of conversation in the elevators among customers, so it was not just our impression. It must be exhausting being so angry all day. General Manager, Marketing at Hampton Inn Washington, D.c./white House, responded to this review Dear msu_gal,Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are pleased to hear that you had a great overall stay with us, and that our prime location, delicious and convenient breakfast, and comfortable accommodations all helped make that happen. However, I sincerely apologize that you were not greeted with the same warmth our guests have come to expect while staying with us. I appreciate you taking the time to write, and I assure you that your comments will be reviewed with the staff. For this reason, we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back again in the future for a much-improved experience. Best,Timothy MeachumGeneral Manager

Excellent location, great staff, worked well for my dog too!

    rating30 Mar 2026

Stayed here for the Cherry Blossom Festival. It was very well situated with less than a mile walk to the Tidal Basin. My dog was welcomed with open arms ... literally. Amber and Ameka both bolted from behind the desk to greet her. The hotel was clean, beds comfortable, breakfast good. There is a nice park just across the street that worked well for walking my dog. There was no internal noise heard in my room and just expected city noise from outside. General Manager, Marketing at Hampton Inn Washington, D.c./white House, responded to this review Dear sb631,I am glad that you had a five-star experience at our hotel and that Amber and Ameka made such a lasting impression during your visit. I will pass your comments along to the entire staff to remind them that every one of us has the chance to help make someone's day brighter. Thank you for staying with us.Best,Timothy MeachumGeneral Manager

    Would not recommend

    rating23 Feb 2026

Terrible experience. Only 1 person working desk, covering register, check in and out. No hot water in our room that we checked into at 10 pm. Spent 30 min in line waiting to talk to the front desk. Was promised my account would be credited. It was not. Also please not this hotel overlooks active train tracks which you hear all night. General Manager, Marketing at Hampton Inn Washington, D.c./white House, responded to this review Dear kellybS4943MM, Thank you for your feedback; it is invaluable to us, and we want to ensure it reaches the appropriate hotel. We are located downtown, and I would like to clarify that there are no nearby train tracks, and we have not received any recent reports of water temperature issues. It’s possible you may have us confused with another property in the area. We appreciate you taking the time to share your review. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, I would be more than happy to assist.Sincerely, Timothy Meachum General Manager

    Great location

    rating08 Sept 2025

Location for me is great.Accessible to places I want to visit.Taking uber is not too bad. Many restos are walking distance,Room is clean and they provide you with lotion, shampoo, conditioner and snacks downstairs.Hot breakfast comes free with the room.It is decent. We stayed 3 nights and we had a good time. The only issue was one elevator wasn’t working and not sure why they didn’t fix it.The only elevator didn’t work at one point so we took the stairs going to 7th floor. Most also did rather than wait for it to get fixed . General Manager, Marketing at Hampton Inn Washington, D.c./white House, responded to this review Dear dorsky2005, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We genuinely appreciate your kind and thoughtful comments. It's heartening to know that you enjoyed your stay overall and found our location ideal, our accommodations fresh, and our breakfast to your liking. However, we are truly sorry to hear about the issues you experienced with our elevators. Please know that your comfort is very important to us, and we regret any inconvenience this may have caused. We value your patronage and hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a seamless and enjoyable experience in the future.Sincerely, Timothy Meachum General Manager

First D.C. Trip - Excellent Stay!

    rating17 Aug 2025

We went to D.C. for the first time and we loved it! My main goal was to choose a hotel that had the following:Walking distance to the White House.Free breakfast.A pool.Washer & Dryer. This hotel met all of those expectations! The staff were polite and professional and the check in process was smooth. I asked for a room with a mini fridge because I read in the reviews that not all of the rooms come with a fridge. I'm happy to say that when they renovated they added a mini fridge to every room! The room was an average size hotel room with 2 queen beds. The beds were comfortable, the AC was nice and cold and the room was clean. We slept well the 3 nights we were there. No noise in the hallways. If I have to say a con it's that we did not have a good view out our windows. We were on the side of the building so our windows looked at the building next door. Not a big deal for us since we were not there for the view. There were hot and cold options for breakfast including a "make your own" waffles station. Free breakfast is always worth it because it saves so much money if you don't need a fancy breakfast. I also grabbed a few things to have in the room like some fruit and a cereal. Bonus: The coffee station is available all day. We did not use the pool, the fitness center or the laundry facilities (yep, the things that were on my list. HaHa). But we took a peak and everything looked nice. This hotel is in a very good spot because we could walk to so many things!7-Eleven, McDonalds, PotBelly sandwiches, French bakery = 5 minute walkWhite House = 7 minute walkThe People's House museum = 4 minute walkThe memorials were a further walk (17 minutes) but manageable. I never felt unsafe walking around the area. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely stay there again! General Manager, Marketing at Hampton Inn Washington, D.c./white House, responded to this review Dear Q2108Awendya,Thank you for choosing our Hampton Inn for your first visit to Washington D.C. Your review, which highlights our successes as well as areas for improvement, not only motivates our staff but also helps us enhance our hotel services. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed our central location, which is close to many attractions, our warm hospitality, and the overall quality of our room accommodations. We appreciate your feedback regarding the views and size of the rooms, and we value your input. Thank you for your patronage, and we warmly welcome you back anytime you are in the area.Best, Timothy Meachum General Manager
