    The best. They love dogs.

    I stay here every time. They love my dogs and even have bowls for them in the room. They put me on the second floor so I can get out fast. There is a dog park two blocks away. The kitchen and fridge are fabulous. And the restaurant is really good!!!!     This hotel is in a gem of a neighborhood. Dog friendly and ideally located to walk to shops., restaurants, boat rides…. Our queen room was spacious and the kitchen a great addition to our stay. The staff was super friendly. We’ll be back for sure!!     One of the heights of Foggy Bottom...

    Everything at The River Inn was top shelf. The location was perfect for our goals of being close to the sites of DC, and also close enough to our events at Georgetown University. The room was quite suitable for a couple, with a view of Foggy Bottom. All services provided were excellent, including handling of our car and baggage; the front desk staff; and housekeeping. The on site restaurant, Matera's, provided a delicious breakfast. All in all, I would highly recommend The River Inn.     Great Base for GU and GW Parents

    Our son just graduated from GU (not GW) - which is about a mile away. My wife searched hard for a hotel before we arrived for our first visit in August 2022. We had an excellent stay then and thus have stayed with them on every trip back (which averaged 2X per year. He graduated in May so we were there this time for his graduation. I have not met a staff member there that did not make me feel like I was their priority. Very early on they knew our names and preferences.In addition, the beds are awesome. We need to get the name of the mattress they use and replace ours at home.Others have mentioned Mr. B and then there is Saif - these gentlemen have been there for a really long time (I think Mr. B told me he started there in 1979). They do more than just respond to what is in front of them - they seem to know what you need next and are hugely attentive. For example, when they have seen me enter the hotel with my hands full, they very quickly and adroitly have the elevator primed without me having to fumble with my card. I constantly have a cup of coffee in my hand - there is a Starbucks in the lobby of the GW hospital which is right by the metro stop. I suspect others have already mentioned that there is a Whole Foods nearby for the nights (and mornings) you want to eat in. I saw the staff interact with young children and felt like they were treated as amazing as we were. I will say that I wish the hotel served coffee from like 6:00 - 8:00 AM. They do provide a Keurig in the room but it is a hotel rated machine and I was not happy the one time I tried it. There is a restaurant in the lobby that I think is run by a vendor. While coffee is available there, sometimes they are really busy and to me the cost for a to-go coffee seems unreasonable. The food at the restaurant is good, I personally don't think of it as a destination restaurant (but there are many of those within half a mile of the hotel) but other than my crankiness about the coffee it is reasonable.
