    Disappointed

    rating31 May 2026

I want to share honest feedback as a loyal Marriott Bonvoy member of many years. We booked the St. Regis Washington, D.C. for my wife's birthday and paid using points I've accumulated over a long time. After a genuinely rough trip in — cancelled trains and a four-hour Uber from New Jersey — we were looking forward to relaxing with a drink at the hotel bar, which is one of the signature draws of a property like this.No one told us at booking, at check-in, or at any point that the only bar would be closed to hotel guests for the entire evening (a Friday night) due to a private event. We discovered it only when we went down expecting to be served. The alternative offered was drinks in the restaurant, which was empty and had none of the ambiance we'd hoped for. The hotel tried to contact us after the fact (I'm sure to try and buy us off with some small gift)...but that isn't the point. I'm not writing this looking for compensation. I'm writing because I expected more from this brand, and because spending years of hard-earned points on a stay that fell this short of expectations is genuinely disappointing. For a five-star hotel to buy out its only bar on a Friday night and fail to give in-house guests any advance notice reflects a basic breakdown in guest communication that I didn't expect from the St. Regis. It's borderline dishonest NOT to tell guests in advance that the only bar in the hotel will be closed for a private event and guests won't be able to access it. I hope it's something the property takes seriously. Marriott Hotels, Guest Services / Front Office at The St. Regis Washington, D.C., responded to this review Dear williamcN4488AG,It is certainly unfortunate to hear that your time with us at The St. Regis Washington, D.C. did not meet the expectations you had, especially on a meaningful occasion such as your wife’s birthday and after a difficult journey into the city. We understand how disappointing it must have been to arrive anticipating a relaxing evening only to find that our bar was unavailable due to a private event, particularly without prior communication. We recognize how important transparency is in helping guests plan and enjoy their time with us, and we regret that this information was not clearly shared in advance of your visit. We do sincerely appreciate your loyalty as a Marriott Bonvoy member and your willingness to provide such detailed feedback, and we hope for the opportunity to better reflect the level of experience you expect from us in the future.Alaina SweeneyGeneral Manager

    Nice Option Downtown

    rating09 May 2026

Very nice hotel. If I could do 4.5 I would. Room was good size, clean, and well appointed. Staff was attentive and friendly. Only complaint was the tiny gym. For a hotel at this price point and overall quality, they need to find more space for a gym. There were only 3 of us in it and we were bumping into each other. Marriott Hotels, Guest Services / Front Office at The St. Regis Washington, D.C., responded to this review Dear JLS102704,Thank you for sharing your thoughtful review of The St. Regis Washington, D.C.. Three and a Half stars at best, not even close to five stars, St Regis is slipping!

    rating05 May 2026

This hotel has been on a steady decline for years, and now it really shows. Rooms (over $700 per night) have been renovated very cheaply, and the decor does not match the overall theme of the lobby, very odd. Marriott has really run their hotels into the ground, especially St Regis and Ritz Carlton Hotels which were at one time, top notch luxury and service, well....not anymore....sad to see the decline of this once great hotel. Marriott Hotels, Guest Services / Front Office at The St. Regis Washington, D.C., responded to this review Dear marionmI2022OU,We're sorry to hear your recent visit didn't meet the luxury standards you anticipated, especially concerning the room renovations and decor. It's disheartening to learn you felt the hotel has declined, and we sincerely value your feedback as it helps us enhance our guest experience. We hope to have the chance to welcome you back and restore your trust in the future.Alaina Sweeney General Manager

Exceptionally disappointing, even more so at their ridiculous pricing

    rating16 Apr 2026

Probably once the most appalling hotel experiences in years. I could hear everybody speaking and walking in the hallway, doors slamming shut all night from my $1150 a night room. The wall and my bed shook when the people in the room next door shut their doors and I was woken at 0700 by excessive moaning from the woman in the room next to me. The Amex breakfast included for 2 was not enough to cover breakfast for one, they charged $150 printing fee for 2 PPTs to be printed which is great example of the excessive pricing at this hotel. My bathroom was so small that I didn’t even have a spot for my toiletries bag, the show head was tiny and the toilet so low I could hardly get up. The hotel has no amenities (no gym, no spa, no pool). There was no tea making in my room and the paper cups (no real cups) for the coffee machine were too big to even fit…I will never return to this St Regis, and likely drop the St Regis brand from my hotel selection. At these prices everything should be perfect. I am simply still stunned from the whole experience. Marriott Hotels, Guest Services / Front Office at The St. Regis Washington, D.C., responded to this review Dear Travellerwithoutname,We are truly sorry to hear that your stay fell so far short of the experience you anticipated, particularly given the level of investment associated with your visit. What you described is deeply disappointing, and we understand how profoundly it would have impacted your sense of comfort and rest. We regret that noise disturbances affected your ability to sleep and that the room environment did not provide the tranquility and refinement that should be synonymous with The St. Regis experience. We also hear your concerns regarding the value and pricing of services, as well as the limitations you encountered within your guest room. These are not impressions we ever want a guest to leave with, and we want to assure you that your feedback will be shared directly with our leadership team for review. While we recognize your sentiment regarding future stays, we are genuinely sorry for the lasting impression this has left and appreciate you taking the time to share such detailed perspective.Alaina SweeneyGeneral Manager

    Don’t stay here, disgusting

    rating15 Mar 2026

It If I could give it a zero I would. Absolutely disgusting room. I’ve included photos of the area behind the toilet that I don’t think has been cleaned in years, coupled with the huge chunk out of the vanity that has now become blackened. Topped off with the light from the closet that wouldn’t turn off no matter how firmly it was closed so it was really fun to look at all night! Also, upon first entering our room, there were coins all over the floor so it obviously hadn’t been vacuumed. Finally, we were extremely tired one night and didn’t feel like going out for dinner after a long day of sightseeing so my child got a kids cheese burger with fries, ordered well done. Was brought almost raw with French fries so salty, they were inedible. How does one mess that up? I emailed to let them know what was happening and their solution was to give us a late checkout. Um our flight leaves early in the morning and why would I want to stay longer at such a gross hotel. They also put the cost of our room on not one but TWO cards (I had submitted a different one to use upon checkin). I have never in my life had so many issues at one hotel. Still hasn’t been fixed. There are so many great places to stay in DC, look elsewhere Marriott Hotels, Guest Services / Front Office at The St. Regis Washington, D.C., responded to this review Dear Guest,We’re truly sorry to hear about the challenges you experienced during your stay. It is certainly regrettable hearing that the conditions within your room, as well as your dining experience and the billing difficulties you noted, have so marred your impression of our hotel. Be assured that each of your concerns have been shared with our leadership teams for careful review, as we are committed to addressing these matters and ensuring they receive the attention they deserve. We are very grateful for your patience and hope we might have another opportunity in the future to provide a stay that better reflects the quality and care our guests should always expect.Alaina SweeneyGeneral Manager
