The ALOFT hotel is part of the Marriott family and as always Marriott does not disappoint. I has a very airbnb experience and ALOFT became our safe heaven. The location is wonderful since it is connected to the Punta Carretas Mall, which it has everything you may need, including a buquebus office, stores to buy e-SIM cards, a large DISCO supermarket very well stock. It is a safe location which was very important to us. Also near by you have a very good restaurant call La Perdiz , which is worth trying. The hotel is about a block from the Rambla and the Rio de la Plata river. It is a wonderful place to walk and jog. The rooms are very comfortable, modern with plenty of storage and a roomy shower. Many of the top rooms have river views. The staff is very helpful, and they provide complementary water bottles in the room. The breakfast was delicious. It has super healthy options where you can squeeze fresh orange juice or it has a separate machine to make your own veggie juices, also they do make eggs to order and avocado toast with a poach on top. The staff was so attentive that a morning I ask for chupas (cheese rolls) and they made them for me the next day for breakfast. A truly caring gesture. Also in the Marriott app you can hire excellent tours to Colonia or Punta del Este ($40/person) that they pick you up from the hotel lobby. Overall ALOFT will not disappoint and is a great option to find a home away from home.

Really enjoyed Aloft Montevideo!

I really liked the vibe of the hotel and staff was unexpectedly really kind and helpful, with good English. Breakfast was not fancy but sufficient and included nice juice machine and lots of fresh fruit. The location is good if you want to be close to a fancy mall, which wasn’t important to me, but it’s a 9-13 minute Uber to El Centro and the old city - and Ubers are quick and reasonably priced - $6-8 a trip. I had a lovely stay here and highly recommend the hotel.

Marvelous in Montevideo

Great location in Punta Carretas. Safe area with a clean mall across the street with a money exchange and plenty of atm’s and a great grocery market “Disco” next door which was perfect for stocking up on water, snacks and wine. There are several good restaurants as well within walking distance and the ramblas is just down the street so you can get out for a walk or run or head to the beach. Although about a 15 minute cab/ Uber from the old town, this was fine as we were able to take in some museums, port market and have coffee to experience the area but then head back to the comfortable, clean and safer feeling Punta Carretas area. Ask for a higher level room if available and you will have a nice view of the ocean. Breakfast was included due to my husband’s bonvoy status which was ok- highlight being the fresh squeezed orange juice machine. The rest of the offerings were hit or miss and the quality definitely depended on how busy they were. Our first day had a nice variety of pastries and sandwiches in addition to eggs and such but then a big tour group came through and it became wonder bread and no pastries. Overall a very nice stay!

Rundown and Poorly Staffed
26 Oct 2024
Hotel was rundown and poorly maintained. The walls were paper thin and I could hear my neighbors morning and night. I could also hear the bell of the elevator ringing every few minutes. The outside noise from the street was awful, even on the seventh floor. The room was full of stains. The curtains did not work so I could not close them and therefore did not have privacy. The weight staff could not keep up at breakfast, so it was impossible to get a seat that was clean after the first sitting. The staff were busy and distracted. Even when they were trying to give good service, they would allow others to interrupt rudely and take care of their needs first. It was a very disappointing experience in a beautiful city. The surrounding area of the hotel was good, with restaurants and even a grocery store nearby. However, I would never stay at this hotel again.
