Comfortable stay in an excellent location
17 May 2026
We had a lovely stay here. We were warmly greeted at check in and pleasantly surprised by the room, which was a very good size. Two large comfortable beds. Dining table & chairs, desk, coffee/tea maker, TV, armchair. The bed was very comfortable. Lots of storage in a large wardrobe. Iron & ironing board in the room, and safety deposit box. It is excellently located moments from Independence Square. All in all a very comfortable stay. Soci Assist, Other at Holiday Inn Montevideo by IHG, responded to this review Hi Rupert1416,We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and appreciated the room amenities and our convenient location near Independence Square. Good value friendly staff

Great location near el centro. Clean, quiet room, comfortable bed. Very friendly helpful staff. The faucet in the sink is not long enough so when you try to wash your hands the water spills behind the sink onto countertop- only complaint- they should replace the faucets with longer ones.

They are trying to steal money
19 Sept 2025
They are trying to steal money. We had a 3-day reservation, but on the very first day the hotel went into complete collapse. The elevator wasn’t working, the lights were out, there was no internet, and there was unbearable noise from outside. It was impossible to stay at the hotel. I went to the reception and explained that I had to leave, but they still haven’t refunded the money for the 2 remaining days. I am surprised that such an old, semi-dilapidated hotel is associated with the Holiday Inn network. STAY FAR AWAY!
05 May 2025
The building is very old, the rooms are not updated, and I thought we were going to fall through the floors while walking between elevators. The reception staff was clueless and told me I didn't reserve a breakfast rate despite that my reservation stated I did and I paid extra for it. The halls are really dark and the rooms smell. The "welcome amenity" for a four night stay for someone who exclusively stays in IHG hotels is one drink, no matter how many people are staying in the room. (I even asked to confirm.) I have stayed in Holiday Inns across the globe and this is truly no Holiday Inn. It's a sad, weird experience. I would book elsewhere if at all possible. I sincerely wish I had. IHG Service, Owner at Holiday Inn Montevideo by IHG, responded to this review Hi Beth G, We appreciate your feedback. It’s great to hear from our most valued guest. Great location. Horrible customer service.
25 Feb 2024
The absolute worst staff I have ever experienced in all my travels around the world. Disinterested would be kind. Rude and arrogant is fair. They are appalling and don’t deserve to work here. The location is awesome and the rooms comfortable but we would never stay here again and would never recommend it. We are bilingual and would suggest you not stay here if you don’t speak Spanish because at least we have the benefit of understanding their rude and contemptuous comments about us and other guests that they make.
