  My flight from SFO to Hanoi was supposed to arrive late on April 23rd, but a connection out of Tokyo got delayed by three hours, so I didn't roll into the La Siesta Classic Ma May until early morning on the 24th. I'd been traveling for over 24 hours at that point. The hotel had arranged an airport pickup for me, and seeing that driver waiting was genuinely a relief. Despite the ungodly hour, the staff welcomed me warmly and got me checked in right away.The next morning, they had a nice breakfast buffet going. Since this was my first time in Hanoi — and Vietnam altogether — I had no real plan for the day. While I was eating, a young woman on staff named Jun came over and asked how I was planning to spend the day. I told her honestly that I was still figuring it out. She started throwing out ideas, but what made it special was that she actually listened — she picked up on what I was into and tailored her suggestions accordingly. It felt less like a rehearsed pitch and more like getting advice from someone who knew the city well. She grabbed a tourist map, marked the spots she recommended, and then wrote them down on a separate piece of paper for good measure. By the time I finished my coffee, I had a solid plan for the day. I genuinely can't remember getting that kind of service at any hotel before.Before I left the table, Jun asked if I had dinner plans. I didn't. She asked what kind of place I was in the mood for, offered a few options based on my answer, and when I picked one, she went and called ahead to make a reservation. Thorough doesn't even cover it. I had a fantastic first day in Hanoi.Jun was a standout, but honestly the whole staff was like that — friendly, helpful, never pushy. My room was on the older side but clearly well-maintained and spotlessly clean. Amenities were above average, including multiple bottles of water in the room, so you're not scrambling to find a convenience store every five minutes. The bed was comfortable and I slept great.After two nights, I had to head out for a Lan Ha Bay cruise. Jun came outside to see me off and handed me some small sweets for the road. A small gesture, but a lovely one.I can't speak to every hotel in the area, but regardless of star rating, this was one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. If I make it back to Hanoi, it'll be hard to stay anywhere else.   Started in this hotel for my honey for 2 nights. The location is quite near to many areas in Hanoi and walking distance. The atmosphere was lovely and the room a where comfortable. We booked deluxe premium room which come with a balcony and the top floor. The price is worth tge value.   Had a fantastic three day stay at La Siesta Ma May in Hanoi.Ideally placed, it is a little oasis in the heart of Hanoi. Staff were all excellent and friendly, not least those in reception, the dining room and the rooftop bar. We will definitely be recommending La Siesta to our friends, and are looking forward to our stay at their sisters hotel in Hoi An.
