  This hotel is everything and more. Such a beautiful hotel. Rich in history. 5 star hotel. Perfect location in district 1. The staff are exceptional Rooms are beautifully appointed.   I loved and adored this hotel. It is absolutely beautiful. I was lucky enough to stay in a Century Double with Riverview - wowser, grand, spacious airy room full of gleaming wood and every modern convenience. The huge bed was very comfortable and the extra touches like welcome fruit and flowers, turndown service with lovely biscuits and a short story.   Went to the rooftop ‘M’ bar for drinks. The Long Island Iced tea was very good. Wife had chicken skewers which took an ETERNITY to arrive. When they did, piping hot outside, and luke warm inside - never good with chicken - she left 5 pieces.The real turning point was when they would not give my wife a simple glass of water to eat with her chicken. They wanted her to buy a bottle of water 😂🤣. 5 star - impossible!   Hotel MajesticWe spent 5 nights here as part of a month long holiday in Vietnam. In May 2026. This was our second time here in the past three years. We are a mid-sixties couple.As a stately and venerable establishment, we enjoy the air of maturity and sense of elegance when staying here. Recently renovated, it looked and felt good. Much warmer than a modern hotel.The rooms are a good size and enhanced by the high ceilings. Because of its age certain things simply cannot be modernised. As such there is no walk in shower, and it’s a mighty big step to get into the bath. Thankfully they provide a solid non slip step. Fine for us but not if you have any mobility issues. Other than that the rooms are great. The mini bar does have a bit of an obsession with birds nest based products. I am deaf however my bride reports no outside noise at all once the door is shut.There is a pool and gym on level one within the courtyard space. The former is smallish but gets the job done. I am never sure about how one should dress on the way to and from the pool? My bride used the gym and states it was more than fine.On level three is a small quiet reflecting garden, again it is within the courtyard space so isolated from the madness that is Sai Gon. It is a lovely spot to reflect on how many times that day you managed to avoid being run over!Breakfast here is an experience. Eastern and local options vary each day and are complimented by your traditional western faire. The food is always very good. It can be very difficult to get the attention of staff here to get a coffee and the plates can pile up. I always have the impression that breakfast is a training venue for the wait staff. Yes I could get my own coffee however I live with low vision and the space does get busy. I would rather not cause an international incident. Being on the with floor I am told it is a great view of the city and especially the Opera development.Other than that the staff are lovely with much better English skills than my Vietnamese. They know the area well and provide good advice on things to do and see.The hotel is well positioned in District one with walking access to all the touristy sights from the waterbus (cheap and relaxing), to Ben Thuy markets. It’s also a very short walk to the metro train that is now up and running.   This hotel has an old world appeal, old French of the 1930’s decor, which was beautiful. We were made to feel very comfortable on arrival and ongoing by all staff throughout our stay. The location was walking distant to most places. Our room was comfortable although we do prefer an outside view, we still enjoyed our stay. We found the breakfast satisfactory. If we return we would request a room with a view and balcony.
