    Hotels in this location are mainly for the budget travellers. Budget does not mean cutting down on the basic bare necessities. Rooms are in reasonably good conditions, most bookings includes free breakfast and some hotels do have free laundry thrown in. Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center is very closeby, no need to navigate thru the massive traffic jams in the city. Shuttle bus ferrying passengers to the heart of the city (approx 7km away) is just a few steps away.

    I have stayed in Vien Dong for almost two months now. The main reason was the price, but as the price includes laundry and breakfast - it's good value for money. Serious discounts available if you stay for longer periods. The hotel has 4 or 5 different buildings in the same area. This feels strange, but distances are short. This is a 2 star hotel, so do not expect much more than that. Rooms are cleaned every day. Laundry delivered same day. The staff have been extremely friendly and service minded. Location is fine, if you have things to do in district 7. The taxi ride to center of district 1 is about 130-150.000 d (usd 7)

    I was set up in Vien Dong for a two week study tour, never having been to Vietnam it was not until arrival that we realised just how isolated its location is. Brilliant for those studying near bye or in the business district, but there are few restaurants and bars or attractions. (BUT Tokyo Deli is brilliant for some high quality sushi and pleasant service) It also takes 40 minutes to get into district 1 so you often end up stuck in district simply due to the price and danger of having to travel to far at night alone. On arrival at the hotel we were quickly shuffled and wheeled around a corner and down another street to the "other" Vien Dong. Now this hotel was literally being built around us, people often walking in my room, putting up paintings, new furniture. But the positives are amazing wifi, comfortably large rooms and bathrooms as well as a general quietness being of the main street. What was a hassle is having to go back to Vien Dong every morning for breakfast as well as the fact that the staff spoke essentially no English even ordering a bottled water came with difficulty, so be warned you need patience with the Vien Dong staff. Overall it provides the essentials, comfort and cleanliness.
