  Amazing location, hotel ambience and restaurant just by the river. Staff are so adorable and accomodating: takes phone order for our breakfast and never forgets to leave us chocolate every evening. Prepares a slice of cake for birthday and small birthday gift.We stayed at Level 3, which our access to room is only using the staircase. But staff helped us to bring luggage up n down. Great stay.   Nobody sets out to write a negative review but....To be completely fair, Villa Song was our last stay on an incredible tour of Malaysia, Cambodia and Vietnam, which until then had seen us visit some remarkable places (more in other reviews), so it was inevitably compared with very high quality experiences. Sadly, it fell way short.Arrival wasn't encouraging, along a dirty street dominated by roadworks and crawling traffic due to school runs. The hotel itself is a little past its (no doubt once magnificent) best, with dead or dying flowers in pots, ageing upholstery and a general air of faded grandeur, though its location on the river is excellent. Reception is in a poorly lit room with staff who struggled to communicate. OK - my Vietnamese is non existent but this represents itself as an international venue and nowhere else had we come across this so a bit surprising. On the positive side, the bell boy was excellent, carting heavy cases up steep stairs (no lift). The room, best in the hotel, apparently, was similarly dingy and rather bare. Quality of towels, bed linen etc second rate. Coffee machine didn't work, so we used the sachets provided then called to ask for a refill. No coffee sachets in the hotel, apparently. Really? It's a small point but there were no flowers in the room and the balcony furniture was at best functional. This is represented as a luxury hotel. It is not.We didn't eat dinner there and in fairness the recommended alternative restaurant was ok. We did eat breakfast which was, frankly, rubbish: rubbery, white bread and yoghurt with granola nobody asked for, plus mediocre fruit. We asked for sourdough toast and were told it would take a week (!), despite there being several what looked like very pleasant bakeries close by. The following day, granary bread miraculously turned up, in the form of rolls. We appreciated the effort but not what we asked for.Next day we took the boat into town. Please note, this is, literally, once a day, not the shuttle service implied. Except it isn't. The 1630 return never arrived. After various calls, it was sent and came an hour later. The boat ride is fun but this was unimpressive.When we asked for a car to the airport for our departure the day before leaving we were told that we had booked for three nights, not two. Our mistake - no question. Just a diary mix up. Refund for the night not used requested and refused, by WhatsApp message! I could easily understand if the hotel was full but it seemed to us to be very far from busy. And given the fact that we had made our unhappiness clear, it might have been sensible for someone to at least speak with us but no: policy, apparently.So, and it is easy to allow that refusal to colour everything (the mistake was ours and nobody else's), a disappointing end to a fabulous trip. From what we could see, there are many, many good alternatives to Villa Song. Were we ever to go back to Ho Chi Minh City, we wouldn't even consider Villa Song and neither should anyone else in our view. As discussed during your stay, the booking was made through a third-party platform and the request to shorten the reservation was received after arrival and beyond the amendment period. Unfortunately, the final night could no longer be resold at such short notice, which limited our ability to provide a refund. Nevertheless, our team did try to explore available options and communicate them as clearly as possible.Despite the challenges, we genuinely appreciate your feedback.   Particular thanks to Cheen on reception who made us feel like special guests from the moment we arrived. The rooms are beautiful and location is on the Mekong river in District 2 is stunning .   A beautiful stay by the river

  A lovely getaway in the Thao Dien district, a comfortable walk away from loads of cafes, restaurants and shops. Access to District 1 is by the hotel’s own boat - the ride an experience in itself!Our suite was beautifully appointed, facing the river. We were met the next morning by a glorious sunrise. There is a beauty about the property - from the little touches all over the lovingly restored property to the sincere smiles of the caring and attentive staff led by hotel manager Tien. We totally enjoyed our stay and couldn’t recommend Villa Song more strongly.   Lovely home along the river

  My husband and I spent two nights in Villa Song right by the river in district 2 of Thao Dien, away from the bustle of district 1. The property offers a speedboat that takes guests to the pier at district 1, a bonus during peak hour traffic.Just 10-15 mins walk away from the hotel is a stretch of restaurants and spas. Grabs are cheap and plenty too.The property was beautiful and has full amenities - coffee and coffee maker, tea, a stocked minibar and a kettle. But the heart of this property is the service and hospitality. Hotel manager Thien and his team really went the extra mile to make us feel at home.
