Last Minute Holidays from Birmingham to Iceland

These bases suit travellers who want a settled place to stay while they plan day trips and short journeys around the country.

• Akureyri: Looking for last minute resorts from Birmingham? Travelodeal has you covered with ATOL-protected package holidays to Corfu's Dassia, a relaxed seaside resort on the island's north-east coast. Enjoy a sheltered sandy beach, a lively promenade lined with tavernas, and easy access to the olive groves and mountain villages of the interior. Book now for flights, transfers and accommodation handled in one simple package from Birmingham Airport. It is exactly the brief our Iceland holidays deals are built around.
• Husavik: Husavik is a small harbour town in North Iceland and one of the country's main hubs for whale watching, with tours running from the harbour close to the town centre. It is a regular cruise stop during the warmer months, so the streets can feel busier at that time of year than in the quieter winter season. For a last minute booking it works well as a relaxed base for those who want to build a trip around wildlife and the sea rather than city sightseeing.
• Vik: Vik is a village on the south coast, sitting along the Ring Road roughly 180 km from the capital. It offers easy coastal walks and a striking black sand beach, and it is a practical overnight stop for those touring the south. Because it is a long drive from the capital, we suggest it for travellers who are happy to be on the road, and who want a village base with access to some of the country's most dramatic scenery. It is exactly the brief our Iceland Last Minute Holidays deals are built around.
• Stykkisholmur: Stykkisholmur is a small town in west Iceland, set on the far side of the western peninsula, with a harbour that serves as a ferry port for boat trips out across the wide bay that sits just offshore. It is quieter than the capital and suits travellers seeking a slower pace and a peaceful stay, the same kind of relaxed brief our Iceland Beach Holidays deals are built around. The main limitation is limited nightlife and a smaller range of restaurants, so we recommend it for those who want rest and scenery over a busy evening programme.
• Hofn: Hofn is a fishing town in southeast Iceland and a practical base for visiting the glacier lagoon at Jokulsarlon and the dramatic headland of Vestrahorn. It is a long journey from the capital, so it is best suited to travellers who want to explore the southeast in depth rather than tour the whole country. We see it as a strong choice for a last minute package focused on glacial scenery and quieter coastal stays.
