This hotel is located only minutes' walk away from famous sights such as the Salamanca Markets or the Derwent River, where boat tours are offered.     Lots of pros but a few cons

    Stayed for 3 nights Friday to Monday in superior harbour view which we booked direct via hotel website. Pros:- location was good- bed and pillows very comfortable - Gym was well equipped - shower water pressure was great - block out curtains great- self serve laundry was very handy- and was able to get coins from reception for this. $4 for a wash cycle and another $4 for dry cycle. - Underground parking available ($25 per day)Cons: - even though our room was on level 17- noise from the street could still be heard for louder vehicles and motorbikes and sirens at times- woken every morning by doors closing. It’s impossible to close the hotel doors quietly so whe people leaving early this was waking us up. - one day we had “do not disturb” on door so housekeeping popped a note under door to arrange a service. About 15 mins later when leaving our room, housekeeping was there and I asked if our room could be serviced please and showed the note (which I assume he left) and he said I still had to go to reception as “I had a schedule to follow”. I went and arranged at reception. Lastly, we didnt have any plan or accommodation for our last 2 nights in Tasmania and agreed given rain was coming, we should stay where we’re at Grand Chancellor for convenience in same room. We went to reception to enquire on extending our stay and what the rate would be, only to be told we couldn’t stay in our existing room and would need to check out and be “bumped down” to another room type as the existing room type was booked out. That was a surprise to us given we had a look online beforehand and even the next morning and it showed the same room category available to be booked for our dates??? Given we were going to have to check out anyway we decided to stay somewhere else instead. Would’ve thought the hotel would’ve tried harder to keep rooms full.

    I recently stayed at this hotel and had a very pleasant experience overall. The reception staff were friendly, and both check-in and check-out were quick and simple. The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained.I only have a small suggestion for improvement — it would be great if complimentary water bottles and slippers for the bathroom were provided in the room.The breakfast was amazing with very nice food and excellent service. All staff members were great, including the chef at the live omelette counter.A special thank you to Beck from the service team. She was very helpful, friendly, and professional throughout our stay. She truly provided personalised service for us, which made our experience even more special. Her hospitality was really fantastic.Thank you to the whole team for a wonderful stay.

    This is in a lovely location and we had a very pleasant stay. I have a disabled badge and we were allowed to park our hire car directly outside reception. It is ideally placed for the local seafood restaurants and takeaways Directly opposite in the harbour. There is a sitting area where they provide binoculars to allow you to look across the harbour to Hobart.

    Booked a harbour view room, given one on a top floor with spectacular dockside views. The room was spacious, king bed, minibar, neat ensuite. It was all very clean and seemed recently upgraded. Every time we had any interaction with staff they were most helpful. Carparking was $25 per day but conveniently located with stairs just below reception. The lobby has a very high class appearance. The gym could use some equipment repairs. Over all we were extremely pleased with our room and the hotel had a fantastic city and harbourside location. Will choose this luxury hotel when next in Hobart

    Stayed for 3 nights. Close to restaurants, pubs, wharf for ferries and Salamanca place. Everything walkable. Room was spacious and clean. Beds comfy, Netflix available. Huge hotel with a nice restaurant and bar downstairs. Heated pool etc and plenty of places to relax around the place. Guest laundry was helpful. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
