Location

Strolling along the hotel's street, a very narrow and panoramic walk, guests will reach the Norman Arabic castle, and from there, stepping down a stone stairway, they can admire the quaint little harbour. The railway station is around 3 km from the hotel and the beach is about 1 km away. Palermo Airport is situated at a distance of approximately 46 km.

Facility

38 rooms, including single rooms and 37 double rooms, are located on 3 storeys and can be reached by lift. Guests are warmly welcomed by multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the 24-hour reception desk in the lobby. Check-in/check-out service is available round the clock. Amenities include a baggage storage service, a safe and a cash machine. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. Air conditioning and central heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. In most units, guests can enjoy a view of the sea from a balcony or terrace.     Wonderful time in Castellamare

    This is an older hotel with comfortable accommodations and a very nice location--we enjoyed having a balcony with waterfront views for our 3 nights' stay. We were only a few blocks from the main pedestrian area and the marina, both with wonderful restaurants and shops. The included breakfast offered many options, and you could eat indoors or outside on the patio. The electric teapot in the room enabled me to have a cup of tea before breakfast too. We got excellent couples' massages through the affiliated Costamante Spa. Free parking in front of the hotel was limited but we were able to find open spaces for paid parking (5 euros/day) within a block of the entrance--you did have to add more money at 8 AM. We had planned to spend some time at the beach but the weather was cloudy/rainy and cooler than expected. Otherwise, a very nice stay in Castellamare!

    Friendly hotel in excellent location

    Super hôtel in seafront location and walking distance to port, old town and numerous good restaurants. The hotel has a shuttle to a nearby beautiful sandy beach as the one below the hotel is a steep climb and only small. We stayed for a week and were lucky enough to be able to enjoy a leisurely breakfast outside every morning except the last day. Rooms were simple but clean and comfortable and we had sea views to wake up to. All the staff were friendly but a special shout out for Mariella who not only recommended an excellent place for our mani-pedis but also gave us a lift there. Also a top tip for a restaurant on the port.

    Although this was a business trip, the stay at Al Madarig was a beautiful one thanks to the attentive staff the great location and the numerous delicious Sicillian restaurants near by.A perfect place for a nice relaxed vaction.Do not miss out on the near by beach.It is well worth the climb up the stairs on the way back.

    Wonderful stay at Hotel Al Madarig with fantastic views

    Fantastic location right on the coast overlooking the Gulf. Hotel was decorated with lots of contemporary art (right up our street). Reception staff very welcoming and all had very good english. We took the offer of complimentary beach towels (rather than a glass of wine) during our stay and they were well used. All areas of the hotel were extremely clean, room was large and we chose a balcony with views over the coast. Bed was large and very comfortable. Good variety at breakfast, including cereal. We even had tea/coffee making facilities in the room (a great bonus for us British tea drinkers!).We took advantage of the free shuttle to one of the local beaches, there is also a local beach only a few metres away with payable facilities, which we also used a few times. Many types of restaurants in the area to suit all pockets. Free parking at front of hotel (if you can get a space) or paid secured parking a very short distance away. We did think that 10 Euros per night was a little expensive for this, but at least we didn't have to worry about the hire car. This was our last hotel on a 10 day trip around South West Sicily and only about 35-40mins away from Palermo airport. All in all a perfect stay.

    A very special place to stay

    We have stayed here several times and our recent stay was as wonderful as ever. The location is fantastic; directly opposite the sea, a short walk to the beautiful port and right next to excellent restaurants. The rooms and breakfast are excellent, too (we sat outside every morning, looking at the sea as we ate delicious local specialities), but as good and as important are the staff. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, with a special mention given to Mariella, who made our stay extra special. This hotel is highly recommended.
