Cheap Beach Holidays to Thailand

Beaches that meet strict cleanliness and safety standards offer a reliable base for a budget seaside stay.

• Khao Lak: Khao Lak sits on the Andaman coast of Phang Nga province, and its calm, gently shelving beaches are well suited to families and first-time visitors. The area is quieter than the busiest western resorts, which keeps hotel rates more modest outside the peak winter months. Its proximity to Khao Sok National Park also means a rainforest excursion is easy to add without extra long-distance travel. We find it offers one of the most balanced combinations of sand, water and value on the western coast. Thailand beach holidays here reward travellers who value calm water and steady prices.
• Koh Lanta: Koh Lanta is a long, laid-back island reached by ferry from Krabi, and its beaches stretch for many kilometres with far fewer high-rise hotels than the busier resort islands. Because it is less developed, accommodation tends to be simpler and better value for travellers who want space rather than nightlife, the same kind of brief our Thailand holidays deals are built around. The trade-off is slower island transport and fewer restaurants after dark. For a budget beach holiday focused on swimming and rest, it remains an excellent choice.
• Koh Yao Noi: Koh Yao Noi lies in Phang Nga Bay between the mainland and its larger neighbours, and its scenic villages and calm shores attract visitors seeking a low-key stay. Accommodation here is generally more affordable than on the larger islands nearby, which makes it a sensible option for a cheap beach break. You will need to plan boat connections carefully, as the island is not on the main tourist circuit. We recommend it for travellers who value quiet over convenience.
• Ao Nang: Ao Nang is the main resort strip on the Krabi mainland, with a broad beach backed by restaurants, shops and a wide choice of guesthouses and hotels. Its proximity to the boat piers for the nearby limestone bays makes it a practical base for travellers on a budget. Prices can rise in the high season, so booking early keeps costs manageable. It suits those who want easy access to activities rather than a remote beach setting.
• Hat Yai: Hat Yai is a southern city close to the Malaysian border and serves as a gateway to quieter beaches along the Songkhla coast. It is far less visited by Western holidaymakers, so prices for food and simple accommodation remain attractive. The beaches nearby are more functional than the postcard islands further west, so this option is best for travellers prepared to trade scenery for affordability. We include it for those seeking genuine value away from the main crowds.
