Cheap Holidays to Croatia in May

Beach resorts along the coast offer some of the best value for a May break, with sea views, pools and easy access to swimming.

• Makarska: Makarska is a compact resort town on the Dalmatian coast with a long pebble seafront and a backdrop of mountains. Our view is that it suits travellers who want a relaxed base with good beach access and a range of affordable hotels, without the bustle of the larger cities. Expect a quieter pace in May compared with July, which keeps evening prices more reasonable and makes the promenade pleasant for an unhurried walk. Croatia Beach Holidays
• Baška Voda: Baška Voda is a small coastal village with a sheltered bay and a quieter atmosphere than many larger resorts. Its appeal is simplicity: a pebbly shoreline, a few cafés and boat links for day trips, which keeps the overall cost of your holiday modest. The trade-off is fewer large-scale nightlife options, so it is best suited to couples and families seeking a restful stay. It is exactly the brief our Cheap Croatia Holidays deals are built around.
• Tučepi: Tučepi is a low-key resort sitting between the mountains and the sea, with a long beach and a choice of family-run apartments. We find it works well for budget-conscious visitors who prefer self-catering or half board and want easy walks along the seafront. Its quieter character in May means you will often find space on the sand even at midday.
• Podstrana: Podstrana is a residential coastal village just a short drive from the regional capital, offering a more local feel and generally lower accommodation rates. The beaches are pebbly but the seafront is well maintained and the bus connections to the city are frequent. It is a practical choice for travellers who want value on their room rate and easy access to the ferries and restaurants nearby.
• Crikvenica: Crikvenica is a long-established resort on the northern Kvarner coast, popular for its promenade, swimming spots and mild spring climate. Compared with the Dalmatian resorts further south, it often offers competitive prices in May and a gentle introduction to the Adriatic. It suits visitors who want a traditional seaside town with plenty of cafés and easy shade along the front.
