Couples Holidays to Iceland

Iceland's most romantic bases combine comfortable accommodation with easy access to the sights couples come to see.

• Reykjavik: Reykjavik is the strongest all-round base for two people because the compact centre is walkable and the restaurants, bars and harbour sit within easy reach of most hotels. Evenings out can be unhurried, with plenty of choice for dinner and a short stroll back to your room. The city also serves as the launch point for the Blue Lagoon and the Golden Circle. We recommend it for couples who want culture and nightlife alongside their scenery. Consider this your Reykjavik holidays starting point.
• Akureyri: Akureyri sits on Eyjafjordur, a long fjord in the north, and offers a noticeably quieter pace than the capital. Couples can wander cafes, visit the botanical garden and take boat trips across the water without the crowds found in the south. The drive to the Godafoss waterfall is manageable within a day. We suggest it for pairs who prefer calm evenings and northern landscapes over city bustle.
• Vik: Vik is a small village on the south coast, roughly 180 km along the Ring Road from the capital, and it suits couples who want a single dramatic stop. Its black sand beach and basalt sea stacks make for memorable walks at quieter hours. Accommodation is limited compared with larger towns, so booking early matters. We recommend it for two people who value coastal scenery over a busy town base.
• Stykkisholmur: Stykkisholmur is a small harbour town on the western edge of Iceland's remote northern shores, offering a peaceful base with a ferry port and boat trips into the surrounding bay. Couples can enjoy slow breakfasts and short walks along the waterfront without the pressure of a packed schedule, the same relaxed brief our Iceland holidays are built around. The town is quieter than the capital, which means fewer dining options but more privacy. We suggest it for pairs who want seclusion and time to themselves.
• Husavik: Husavik is a small harbour town in North Iceland known as a major whale watching hub, with tours departing from the town harbour close to the centre. Couples can combine a morning boat trip with a relaxed afternoon in town, which makes for a memorable shared experience, the same kind of well-paced brief our Iceland All Inclusive Holidays deals are built around. Cruise calls are seasonal, so the town can be busier at certain times of year. We recommend it for pairs who want a shared outdoor activity with a small-town feel.
