Three regions, one lake
Veneto, Lombardy, and Trentino each meet the water, so a single week can take in Venetian fortresses, Lombard risotto, and Alpine cured beef without a long transfer.

Easy to reach, easy to leave
Verona airport is about 30 minutes away, and the lake sits on the main Milan–Venice line, putting both cities within roughly 90 minutes by train.

Warm, swimmable water
The south sits at just 65 m above sea level and stays several degrees warmer than the north, with shallow shoreline beaches at Sirmione, Bardolino, and Lazise.

A mountain at the water's edge
The Malcesine cable car climbs to 1,760 m on Monte Baldo, and its upper cabin rotates a full 360° on the way up — a design found almost nowhere else in the world.

Italy's biggest theme park
Gardaland opened at Castelnuovo del Garda in 1975 and now runs around 40 rides alongside a SEA LIFE aquarium and a LEGOLAND water park.

Wine and oil
Lugana whites, Bardolino reds, and Garda DOP olive oil are all produced on these shores — the lake is one of the most northerly olive-growing zones on the planet.

Travelodeal Travel Tips

The shoreline divides into clear zones, and each delivers a different kind of week.
Sirmione (south): A narrow peninsula tipped by the 13th-century Scaligero Castle and the Roman ruins of the Grotte di Catullo, with thermal springs feeding several spa hotels. It is the most photographed of the southern Lake Garda towns, and fills up by midday — arrive early.
Bardolino & Lazise (southeast): The wine-and-olive belt of the Riviera degli Olivi, with easy promenades and the medieval Venetian walls of Lazise. Good value along this eastern shore makes it a sensible base for cheap Lake Garda holidays without giving up the lakefront.
Malcesine (northeast): A medieval harbour under its own Scaligero castle, and the base station for the Monte Baldo cable car. It draws couples and walkers in roughly equal measure.
Riva del Garda & Torbole (north): The Trentino tip, walled by cliffs, cooler and more Alpine in feel, and a magnet for windsurfers thanks to the lake's dependable winds. Many Lake Garda Italy holidays pair a few nights up here with the warmer south.
Limone sul Garda (northwest): Known for the terraced lemon houses (limonaie) clinging to the cliffs, reached by the cliff-hugging Gardesana road or by ferry.

Beyond the loungers, Garda packs in a mountain cable car, two Roman sites, and some of northern Italy's steadiest watersports.
Monte Baldo cable car: From Malcesine, the funivia climbs to 1,760 m at Tratto Spino, with a second-section cabin that rotates a full 360° on the ascent. The summit opens onto hiking, paragliding, and views down the length of the lake.
Sirmione's Roman past: The Grotte di Catullo, a ruined Roman villa complex on the peninsula's tip, sits among olive trees with water on three sides — combine it with the moated Scaligero Castle in the old town.
Watersports in the north: Torbole and Riva catch the Ora and Peler winds almost daily, which makes the upper lake one of Europe's most reliable spots for windsurfing, sailing, and kitesurfing, with schools renting to all levels.
Gardaland & SEA LIFE: Italy's largest theme park runs roughly 40 rides at Castelnuovo del Garda, with the adjacent SEA LIFE aquarium and a LEGOLAND water park aimed at younger children.
Lake ferries: The Navigazione Lago di Garda network links around 26 towns, including a mid-lake car ferry between Toscolano-Maderno and Torri del Benaco — the simplest way to town-hop without hunting for parking.
