Last Minute Holidays to Croatia in February

February resorts on the Croatian coast are quiet, so the right choice depends on whether you want an open town or a calmer base.

• Dubrovnik: Dubrovnik is the strongest all-round choice for a February stay because its old town and walled circuit remain open and walkable year round. The city walls can be walked in a loop of roughly two kilometres, giving sea and rooftop views even on a cool, clear day. Expect fewer visitors than in summer and some seafront cafés to be closed, so plan your meals around the restaurants that stay open. We recommend Dubrovnik holidays for travellers who value culture and atmosphere over sunbathing.
• Split: Split is the second-largest city in Croatia and works well in February because it is a living city rather than a seasonal resort. Diocletian's Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is open for walking throughout the winter, and the waterfront stays active. The ferry terminal gives access to island day trips when the weather allows, so you can combine city time with a boat trip. We suggest Split for travellers who want a working city base with transport links.
• Hvar: Hvar is known for its sunshine and is one of the sunniest places in Croatia, which can make it a surprisingly pleasant February option on a clear day. The harbour town and fortress overlook the water, and the island is reached by ferry from the mainland port across the channel. Many seasonal bars and restaurants close in winter, so you should book accommodation carefully and check which services are running. We recommend Hvar for couples who are comfortable with a quieter island pace.
• Zagreb: Zagreb is the capital and largest city, and it is open all year, making it the most reliable February base in the country. The historic upper town of Gradec and St Mark's Square are a short walk from the centre, and there is a strong café and museum culture. The city is connected to the airport by a direct bus, which keeps transfers simple. We suggest Zagreb for a dependable city break where you can explore indoors when the weather turns.
• Brac (Bol): Bol on Brac is a small island town whose beaches are famous for shallow approaches, but in February the beach is cold and the resort is mostly quiet. The island is reached by ferry from the mainland port city on the Dalmatian coast, which adds travel time but gives a change of scenery. Many accommodation providers close during the off-season, so this is only worth choosing if you have confirmed the services you need. We recommend Bol for travellers who want an unhurried island stay and are happy to plan around winter opening, the same brief our Croatia Adults Only Holidays deals are built around.
