Maldives Holidays in June

Warmth in the Maldives is fairly constant through the year, so the places that feel warmest in June are those with the most sun-exposed beaches and the least shelter from the heat.

• Maafushi: Maafushi is a local inhabited island a short speedboat ride from the capital, with guesthouses and narrow sandy lanes that sit close to the lagoon. In June the warmth is genuine and the air feels thick between showers, though the island offers less shade than a resort garden. Because alcohol is not sold here and dress should be modest, we see it as a warm and affordable base for travellers who value simplicity over resort comforts.
• Malé: Malé is the compact capital and the most densely populated island in the country, and in June its streets hold heat and humidity well after the monsoon showers pass. The city has little shade, so the walk between the mosques and markets is best taken in the morning or late afternoon. We suggest it as a day out from a resort rather than a place to base a warm-weather beach holiday, because the urban setting trades open sea views for a more intense sense of heat.
• Dhigurah: Dhigurah sits in the southern part of the wider atoll chain and is reached by domestic flight and boat, with a long sandbank that stays open to the sun for much of the day. The island is less shaded than many resort lagoons, so June afternoons can feel hot once the cloud lifts. We find it rewarding for travellers who want sun-soaked days and are happy to rest in the shade of a guesthouse terrace during the hottest hours.
• Hulhumalé: Hulhumalé is a reclaimed island linked to the capital by a causeway, with wide roads and newer buildings that hold warmth in the afternoon. In June the humidity is noticeable here, and the lack of mature trees means open walkways can feel warm between showers. We recommend it for a short, convenient stay near the airport rather than as a destination chosen for its cooling sea breezes. It is exactly the brief our Cheap Maldives Holidays deals are built around.
• Thulusdhoo: Thulusdhoo is a local island in Kaafu Atoll known for its surf breaks and relaxed atmosphere, reached by boat from the capital. Its sandy paths and open shoreline catch the June sun, and the sea breeze can make the heat easier to bear when the wind is in the right direction. We suggest it for those who enjoy the warmth of an active coastline and are comfortable with the local dress and alcohol rules.
