Solo Holidays to Croatia

These are the resort areas where a traveller on their own will find the easiest mix of company, comfort and things to do.

• Dubrovnik: Dubrovnik suits solo travellers who want a historic walled city with plenty to do alone. The old town is pedestrian only, so you can wander the streets at any hour without relying on transport. The walls circuit is roughly 2 km and makes a satisfying solo morning, though summer evenings can feel crowded. Accommodation ranges from guesthouses inside the walls to hotels nearer the port. We recommend it for independent travellers who enjoy culture and a lively evening atmosphere. Dubrovnik holidays
• Split: Split works well as a lively base for a solo trip, combining a working city with direct ferry access to the surrounding Adriatic coastline, the same brief our Croatia Beach Holidays deals are built around. Its Diocletian's Palace complex is compact and easy to explore on foot, and the seafront has cafés and gelato stands well suited to a relaxed day alone. The city is also a practical hub, so you can make offshore day trips without moving your luggage. We find it ideal for travellers who want flexibility, city life and easy onward connections.
• Hvar: Hvar offers sunshine, a historic harbour and a sociable waterfront that suits solo visitors looking for company in the evenings. The town is small enough to navigate easily, and the fortress above the harbour gives a rewarding walk at sunset. Reaching this Adriatic gem is straightforward by ferry from the mainland port nearby, although summer sailings should be booked ahead. The destination can be busier and more expensive in peak months, so it suits those who enjoy a lively social scene. It is exactly the brief our Hvar holidays deals are built around.
• Brac island (Bol): Bol on Brac is a calmer beach resort where solo travellers can settle into a slower rhythm. The pebble beach at Zlatni Rat is a short walk from the town centre, and its shape shifts with the wind, which makes it interesting to return to. Most of the resort is compact and walkable, so you do not need a hire car to enjoy a week here. It is a good choice for those who want sea, sunshine and simple daily routines rather than nightlife.
• Istria (Rovinj and Porec): Istria, centred on Rovinj and Porec, is a strong pick for solo travellers who value food, wine and quiet coastal towns. Rovinj's old town sits on a peninsula with seafront restaurants that make a comfortable place to dine alone, and the region is well known for its truffles and vineyards. Distances between towns are short, so day trips are simple without a car. We suggest it for travellers who prefer a relaxed, food-focused trip over a busy party scene.
