Family Beach Holidays to Greece

Blue Flag status is a useful shorthand for water quality and beach facilities, and several Greek coastlines hold it for their sands and shallows.

• Corfu Beaches: Corfu offers sandy beaches and shallow bays on both its east and west coasts, which suits children who are still learning to swim. The island is served by flights from several UK airports, so the journey is comparatively short for families. The trade-off is that the best-known bays can fill up by late morning in peak summer, so we suggest arriving early for the most sheltered sand. Corfu holidays
• Chalkidiki Shelving Sands: Chalkidiki is a peninsula with three finger-shaped headlands and sandy beaches that shelve gently into the sea, which makes it a strong choice for younger children and the same brief our Greece Last Minute Holidays deals are built around. The main airport access is in the north, so the transfer is longer than to the islands but the beaches are calmer. Families who value gentle entries and quieter evenings will find this one of the most comfortable options on the Greek coast.
• Rhodes at Faliraki: Faliraki is a sandy resort beach roughly 15 kilometres from Rhodes Town, with a broad bay, sun loungers and nearby water sports for older children. Rhodes has direct flights from UK airports, which keeps travel time manageable for families with young children. Faliraki is busier and livelier than the quieter bays, so it suits families who enjoy a bit of activity around the sand. Rhodes holidays
• Ixia on: Ixia sits on the island's eastern shore with a long sandy beach and calmer water than some of the livelier resort bays nearby. It is a short drive from the island's main town, which means families can reach the medieval Old Town for a day out without staying in the city. The beach is less crowded than Faliraki, though restaurants and shops are fewer, so plan to drive for some meals. This quieter, more relaxed pace is exactly the kind of brief our Greece Adults Only Holidays deals are built around.
• Naxos Coastal Beaches: Naxos is the largest island in the Cyclades and offers beaches and a relaxed harbour town at Chora, with a Venetian castle overlooking the streets. Ferries from the mainland take several hours depending on the route, which is a longer journey than a direct flight but rewards families with space and quiet. Naxos suits those who are happy to trade nightlife for long stretches of sand and gentle daily rhythms, the same brief our Cheap Greece Holidays deals are built around.
