Holidays from London to Croatia

Our departure options from London are built around the routes and airports we confirm with you, so the first step is always checking which gateway suits your dates.

• Dubrovnik: Dubrovnik airport sits a short distance from the old town, and the airport shuttle bus or taxi is the usual way in, so you can plan your arrival with a clear idea of how long the final leg will take. For a London traveller this is often the most direct way into the southern Dalmatian coast, which is why it appears so often in our planning. The trade-off is that the city centre is busy in summer, so arriving early and pre-booking your transfer tends to save time. We recommend it for travellers who want a walled city and the sea within easy reach. It is exactly the brief our Dubrovnik holidays deals are built around.
• Split: Split airport connects to the city centre by airport shuttle bus and taxi, and once you are in town the historic palace is walkable from most central accommodation. It is a good choice if you want a working city with easy ferry links to the islands, since the Split ferry terminal runs services to neighbouring islands and beyond. Split is less of a single-attraction destination than the other famous walled coastal city on the Adriatic, so the trip suits people who like to mix city life, the palace and day trips. We often suggest it as the base for travellers who want flexibility.
• Zagreb: Zagreb is served by a direct airport bus into the city, which makes the arrival simple even if you are travelling late in the day. The capital is a different proposition from the coast, with museums, cafés and the historic upper town of Gradec drawing visitors who prefer a city break. The weather inland can be cooler than the Adriatic, and winter brings snow, so the trip works best in spring, autumn or a deliberate winter visit. For a short, culture-led stay the capital is one of the most straightforward options we offer.
• Plitvice Lakes: Plitvice Lakes National Park is an inland destination, so most visitors combine a stay in the region with a car, a tour or a bus connection rather than arriving directly at the park. The sixteen interlinked lakes and waterfalls are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and an early visit reduces the crowds on the wooden walkways. Because access depends on the route you take, we confirm the transfer arrangements with you before you book. It is a rewarding inland addition to a coastal trip.
• Krka National Park: Krka National Park sits near Sibenik and is usually reached as a day trip from the central coast rather than as a standalone arrival point. Its travertine waterfalls and swimming areas make it one of the more varied day outings on the central coast. Boat links help reach the park, so it is worth factoring the timing into your plans. We see it as an easy addition for travellers based on the central Dalmatian coast who want a full day out.
