Holidays to Croatia under £300

Island holidays can fit a budget when you travel outside peak weeks and plan ferry costs carefully, since the sea crossing itself adds to the total.

• Brac island (Bol): Bol on Brac is known for Zlatni Rat, a pebble beach whose tip shifts with the wind and currents, and it is one of the more accessible islands from the nearby port city. Ferry crossings are short and relatively affordable, which helps keep the overall package within reach. Accommodation ranges from simple guesthouses to family hotels, and prices tend to rise sharply in the height of summer. Choosing a shoulder-season departure gives you a better chance of staying within budget while still enjoying warm sea temperatures. We recommend this island for travellers who want an island feel without the highest island prices. It is exactly the brief our Croatia Family Holidays deals are built around.
• Korcula island: Korcula is a walled island town reached by ferry from Orebic on the mainland and from the historic city to the south, making it a practical base for travellers who want to see more than one stop on a single trip. The town has a calmer pace than that famous southern city, and its harbour restaurants offer evening meals at prices that suit a modest budget. Ferry fares add to the cost of getting there, so it is important to check timetables and book in advance during summer. Accommodation is more limited than on the mainland, which means booking early improves the chance of a sensible rate. We include it for travellers who want a historic island setting at a more measured price point. It is exactly the brief our Croatia Luxury Holidays deals are built around.
• Mljet island: Mljet is a quieter island reached by ferry from the southern coast, and much of its interior is covered by a national park with saltwater lakes and forest. Because it sees fewer visitors than the busier islands, accommodation is limited and simple, which can help keep the price down if you book with flexibility. The trade-off is that transport on the island is less frequent, so you will need to plan around ferry and local bus times. Walking and cycling within the park cost little, which supports a budget approach once you arrive. It is a good choice for travellers who want a slower, more natural holiday and are happy to accept fewer amenities. It is exactly the brief our southern Adriatic coastal holiday deals are built around. It is also exactly the brief behind our southern Croatian coastline holidays, which pair well with a relaxed island stay. It is exactly the brief our Dubrovnik holidays deals are built around.
• Vis island: Vis is a remote island in the central Adriatic that was closed to foreigners until the late twentieth century, and it remains far less developed than many of its neighbours. Reaching it requires a ferry from the main port city, which is longer and dearer than the crossings to nearer islands, so the budget needs to allow for that fare. Once there, accommodation and food are generally reasonable, and the quieter beaches suit visitors who want space rather than a busy resort scene. Service levels can be simpler, and some businesses close outside the main months. We recommend it for travellers prepared to trade convenience for quiet and who plan their travel around the ferry timetable.
• Hvar island: Hvar is among the sunniest islands in Croatia and has a historic harbour town with a fortress overlooking the water and lavender fields across its interior. It is reached by ferry from the mainland port, and fares rise noticeably in summer, so travelling in late spring or early autumn is the most practical route to a sub-budget total. Accommodation in the town is in high demand and tends to be priced above mainland resorts, which means choosing a less central stay can help control costs. The bars and restaurants along the waterfront are lively in season, so daily spending can climb quickly. We include it for travellers who want island sunshine and are willing to time their trip carefully. It is exactly the brief our Hvar holidays deals are built around.
