Most UK regions have year-round services to the mainland coasts, the Balearics and the Canary Islands, so you rarely need to cross the country to start your week.
The Canary Islands average around 20 C in winter while the Costa del Sol and Alcudia carry the summer season, which means the calendar rarely rules out a Spanish week.
Coach journeys of 15-25 minutes to Torremolinos and Benalmadena, and 20-45 minutes across Majorca, mean small children reach the pool before they have finished asking about it.
The Alhambra, the Sagrada Familia, Seville's cathedral trio, the Mezquita of Cordoba, Teide, the Serra de Tramuntana and Cuenca all sit within a day trip of a hotel bed.
Tapas in Seville, Valencian paella cooked with rabbit and chicken, espetos on the Malaga beaches and pintxos in San Sebastian give every region a reason to book a table.
Our team can tell you which end of Benidorm is quieter and how early the Alhambra sells out, because they have booked and walked these places themselves.

These are the six corners of the country we get asked about most, each with a different reason to go.
Majorca, Balearic Islands: The largest of the group pairs the UNESCO-listed Serra de Tramuntana mountains, protected since 2011, with long resort beaches at Alcudia and Playa de Palma, and Palma's Gothic cathedral La Seu, begun in 1229, overlooks a working ferry port.
Tenerife, Canary Islands: Mount Teide rises to 3,715 m, the highest point in the country, inside a national park UNESCO listed since 2007, while Playa de las Americas, Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje in the south keep the driest weather and most of the hotel stock.
Costa del Sol: Over 300 days of sunshine a year and transfers of 15-25 minutes from the airport explain Torremolinos and Benalmadena, and the coast stays warm into November, which makes it our usual answer for an October half term to Spain.
Costa Blanca: Benidorm's two beaches, Levante and Poniente, each run around 2 km behind the most established package-hotel infrastructure on the mainland, which is why cheap holidays to Spain so often end up here, with Altea's old town and Calpe's 332 m Penon de Ifach nearby.
Barcelona, Catalonia: Gaudi's Sagrada Familia, under construction since 1882, and Park Guell are both UNESCO listed, the Gothic Quarter wraps around the cathedral, and 4.5 km of urban beach starts at Barceloneta, which is why solo holidays to Spain so often begin here.
Seville, Andalusia: The regional capital sits on the Guadalquivir and holds three UNESCO-listed monuments together: the world's largest Gothic cathedral, its 104 m Giralda tower and the Real Alcazar palace, with Semana Santa and the Feria de Abril as its two biggest weeks.
Every one of these is a bookable day out, and most need a ticket sorted before you fly.
Alhambra, Granada: Nasrid palaces from the 13th and 14th centuries stand on a hill above the city beside the Generalife gardens, UNESCO listed since 1984, and daily visitor numbers are capped, so timed tickets for the Nasrid Palaces need booking well ahead.
Sagrada Familia towers: Gaudi's basilica has been under construction since 1882 and remains unfinished, with its tallest spire planned to reach 172.5 m, and timed tickets cover the nave with an upgrade for one of the tower climbs.
Teide cable car: The ride climbs from 2,356 m to 3,555 m in about eight minutes, leaving a short walk to the summit area, and the crater itself at 3,715 m needs a free permit booked ahead from the national park.
Caminito del Rey: This 7.7 km walkway pins itself to the walls of the El Chorro gorge about an hour from Malaga, at points 100 m above the river, and since its March 2015 rebuild it is walked one way with a compulsory helmet.
Timanfaya by coach: Around 51 km2 of lava fields from the 1730-1736 eruptions are toured along the Ruta de los Volcanes because walking is restricted, and demonstrations at the visitor area show ground heat that ignites brush a few metres down.
Mezquita of Cordoba: An 8th-century mosque, begun in 785, had a Renaissance cathedral built inside it in the 16th century, and its forest of striped arches sits on the high-speed line between Madrid and Seville, UNESCO listed since 1984.
Boats from Palma: The harbour handles ferries to Barcelona, Valencia and the other Balearic islands as well as regular cruise calls, and short boat trips run from the resort harbours along the coast.
A package combines the flight, the hotel and usually the airport transfer in one price sold by one operator. Because the elements are sold together, the whole trip is ATOL protected, so your money is safe and you are brought home if a supplier fails. Board basis, room type and baggage are chosen at booking, so the price you confirm is the price you pay.
