Last Minute Holidays to Thailand in September

Island choices in September depend heavily on which side of the country you visit, so it helps to compare the Andaman and Gulf options before booking.

• Koh Lanta: Islands in September bring warm sea temperatures and fewer crowds to Sidari, on the north-western coast of this Ionian island. The golden sands of Sidari Beach are backed by dramatic sandstone rock formations carved by wind and water, and the resort's shops, tavernas and waterfront cafés are still lively well into the autumn. Late-summer evenings are ideal for watching the sunset over the Ionian Sea, and boat trips to nearby sea caves are easy to arrange from the harbour. It is exactly the brief our Thailand All Inclusive Holidays deals are built around.
• Koh Yao Noi: Koh Yao Noi lies in Phang Nga Bay, positioned between the larger islands to its south and the mainland coastline to the east, offering scenic villages and quiet beaches for visitors seeking a low-key stay. It appeals to travellers who want to avoid the busier resort strips while still being within easy reach of island day trips. Facilities are more limited than on the bigger islands, so guests should expect a simpler setting. For a peaceful island base with scenic views, it offers a distinct alternative.
• Koh Phangan: Koh Phangan is reached by ferry from the neighbouring island at Nathon Pier, and the crossing is short enough to make day trips easy. The island has a more independent character than its larger neighbour, with a range of beach areas to choose from. Like other Gulf coast destinations, its weather follows a different pattern from the Andaman side, so dates should be checked carefully. We recommend it for travellers who want a quieter island and are happy to use ferries for onward connections.
• Koh Tao: Koh Tao is a small island in the Gulf of Thailand that is reached by ferry and is well suited to snorkelling and diving in calm bays. Its compact size means most beaches and facilities are within a short distance of each other. Ferry schedules can be affected by weather during the rainy months, which is a trade-off to plan for. We suggest it for active travellers who want a modest island with clear water and straightforward logistics.
• Phi Phi Islands: The Phi Phi Islands are reached by boat from the main resort hubs on the Andaman coast, including the province's mainland towns, and day tours visit Maya Bay and popular snorkelling spots. Tours are a popular way to see the limestone scenery without staying on the islands themselves. Boat trips can be cancelled or shortened when seas are rough, which is more likely in September. We recommend booking flexible day trips and treating them as a highlight of a wider Andaman stay.
