Family Holidays to Thailand

The most established resort towns offer the widest choice of family hotels, pools and organised activities.

• Pattaya: Pattaya sits roughly a couple of hours by road from the capital, which makes it a practical first stop for families who want water parks and beach time without a long internal flight. The town has several water parks and attractions suited to children, along with hotels that have large pools and kids' clubs. The trade-off is a livelier resort atmosphere in the evenings, so we tend to suggest choosing a hotel set back from the main strip. For a family with younger children, it is a sensible choice that keeps the logistics simple. It is exactly the brief our Thailand holidays deals are built around.
• Phuket: Phuket is Thailand's largest island and has a wide choice of family hotels across its western beaches, with a full range of restaurants and beach clubs. It has an international airport with direct flights from the capital, so connecting onward is straightforward. Some beaches are busier than others, and the nightlife areas can be noisy, so we steer families toward quieter bays. For a holiday with plenty of options under one roof, the island remains a dependable choice. It is exactly the brief our Cheap Thailand Holidays deals are built around.
• Koh Samui: Koh Samui is the largest island in the Gulf of Thailand and has a long-established collection of family resorts with beaches, pools and organised activities. The island has its own airport with flights from the capital, which saves a long overland journey after arrival. Ferries from Nathon Pier link to nearby islands, giving older children a day out by boat. The island suits families who want resort comfort with the option of gentle exploring, and it is one of our most requested destinations for multi-generation trips. • Bay: Jomtien, located just to the south of the central resort strip, offers a quieter stretch of sand with family-friendly hotels and a more relaxed pace. It sits close enough to the town's main attractions that day trips are easy to arrange. The beach is generally calmer for paddling, which suits younger children. Its quieter character means fewer restaurants open late, so we recommend it for families who prefer an early night.
• Chiang Mai: Chiang Mai is the largest city in northern Thailand and is surrounded by mountains, with a walled historic quarter and many temples that children often enjoy exploring. The air is cooler than in the south, which makes sightseeing more comfortable for families in the cooler months. Family hotels here tend to be more modest than beach resorts, with a focus on courtyard gardens and pools. It is a good choice for families who want culture and gentle activity rather than long beach days. It is exactly the brief our Thailand Adults Only Holidays deals are built around.
