Thailand is a Southeast Asian kingdom known for its beaches, islands, temples, street food and busy capital. Travellers choose it for the contrast between big-city culture, northern jungle and mountain scenery, and southern tropical resorts. Whether you want to wander ancient temples, sample fragrant curries from roadside stalls, or unwind on a palm-fringed shore, the country offers a rewarding mix of culture, cuisine and relaxation for every holiday.

Booking a last minute package with us means we check the details that are easy to overlook when you are in a hurry. We confirm that the flight connection leaves enough time, that your hotel transfer matches the resort you have chosen, and that the travel dates line up with the season you want. We also look carefully at the total cost, not just the headline fare, so you can see clearly what you will pay for flights, accommodation and transport.

Why Book Last Minute Holidays from Edinburgh to Thailand

Varied landscapes

The country moves from the mountains around Chiang Mai to the limestone karsts of Krabi within a single trip. Each region feels distinct, so you rarely run out of new scenery. Travellers often comment that the contrast is the highlight.

Temple heritage

Bangkok's Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha sit at the centre of the Thai capital. Ayutthaya, the former capital, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site about 80 km north of Bangkok. Together these sites tell a long story of Siamese kingdoms.

Island choice

Phuket, Krabi and Koh Samui offer very different island characters within easy reach of one another. Phuket is the largest island and has an airport with direct flights from Bangkok. Koh Samui has its own airport, which keeps resort transfers simple.

Food culture

Street food is central to daily life, and dishes such as pad Thai and som tam are sold almost everywhere. Northern specialities like khao soi show how regional the cooking can be. Eating well here rarely costs a great deal.

Easy internal travel

Bangkok is served by the BTS Skytrain and MRT metro, which make city days straightforward. Domestic flights link the capital with island and northern airports. Longer journeys by train or bus are also well established, and most routes run daily across the country, giving you flexibility to adjust plans as you travel.

Range for every budget

You can spend freely on boutique resorts or keep costs modest with guesthouses and local eating. The variety of stays means you can match the trip to your budget. Our team will explain what each option includes before you commit.

Your Guide to Last Minute Holidays from Edinburgh to Thailand

Resort choice drives both the feel of your holiday and how long the transfer takes from the airport after your overnight journey.

Hua Hin: Last Minute Resorts from Edinburgh: discover the best-value last minute deals to Kassiopi on Corfu's northeast coast, where pebbled coves, lively tavernas and quiet sea views make an ideal short-notice escape. Edinburgh departures let you swap grey Scottish skies for clear Ionian sunshine with flights, transfers and ATOL protection arranged for you. It is exactly the brief our Thailand holidays deals are built around.
Khao Lak: Khao Lak on the Andaman coast offers gently shelving beaches and quieter resorts that work well for families and couples. It sits close to a large rainforest national park, so jungle excursions are easy to fit around a beach stay. The trade-off is a more spread-out resort strip with fewer late-night options, which is exactly why we suggest it to guests who want space and calm.
Pattaya: Pattaya is a lively resort town a short drive from the capital, with several water parks and attractions suited to children. Its hotels and beach areas are easy to reach after a long flight, which keeps transfer costs and waiting times low. We find it works well for last minute bookings where flexibility on the exact beach matters less than having plenty of things to do. Thailand Family Holidays from this base suit mixed-age groups well.
Koh Tao: Koh Tao is a small island reached by ferry from the nearby mainland resort hub and known for clear water and a relaxed diving culture. Its compact size means most beaches and dive shops are close together, so you spend less time in transit. The island suits guests who want a quieter base with simple accommodation, the same brief our Cheap Thailand Holidays deals are built around, and we often see it chosen by travellers who prefer an unhurried holiday.
Chiang Mai: Chiang Mai is the largest city in northern Thailand, surrounded by mountains and known for its old walled centre and many Buddhist temples. It has a cooler, mountain-influenced climate compared with the coast, which many visitors find more comfortable for walking and sightseeing. Because it is a domestic flight from the capital rather than a beach transfer, we recommend it to culture seekers who are comfortable with a shorter onward journey. Thailand Luxury Holidays in the hills can be surprisingly refined.

Thailand's islands range from lively resort hubs to quiet coves, and the ferry or flight you take shapes the whole holiday.

Koh Phangan: Koh Phangan is reached by ferry from the neighbouring larger island and offers a mix of quieter beaches and well-known party areas on the east coast. Its ferry link makes it straightforward to combine with a stay on the larger island, giving you variety in one trip. We suggest it for guests who want a changeable island experience rather than a single fixed resort. Thailand Beach Holidays here can mix calm bays with livelier evenings.
Koh Chang: Koh Chang is a forested island in the Gulf of Thailand with long beaches and a slower pace than the busiest resort islands. It is best suited to travellers who are happy with a more remote feel and accept that restaurant and shop choice is narrower. For a last minute booking, its relative calm makes it a good alternative when the bigger islands are fully booked. Many travellers search for Ko Chang as an alternative spelling.
Koh Phi Phi: Koh Phi Phi is accessed by boat from the Andaman coast and is known for its dramatic limestone scenery and snorkelling around nearby bays. Day boat trips to a famous lagoon make it a popular choice for active guests. The trade-off is that boat schedules can be affected by weather, so we advise building a little flexibility into your plans.
Koh Yao Yai: Koh Yao Yai is a quiet island in a bay of limestone karsts, reached by boat and favoured by guests seeking seclusion. Its villages and low-key beaches appeal to those who want to step away from the busier resort strips. Because facilities are limited, we recommend it for travellers who plan to rely on their resort rather than a lively evening scene.
Koh Kradan: Koh Kradan is a small island off the southern coast with clear shallow water and a very relaxed atmosphere. Its size means there are few hotels and limited nightlife, which keeps it peaceful for couples and families. Transfers are by boat, so we advise checking the connection timing carefully before you book. Thailand Adults Only Holidays here suit guests seeking total calm.
