When you book a Thailand holiday with Travelodeal from the East Midlands, you pay one package price that brings together flights, transfers and accommodation, so you never have to piece separate bookings together yourself. This guide covers holidays from East Midlands to Thailand. Short transfers leave more of your first and last day to enjoy.

Thailand is a Southeast Asian kingdom that sits between Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Malaysia, and it draws UK travellers with a rare mix of big-city culture, forested mountain scenery in the north and tropical island resorts in the south. The capital offers temples, markets and river life along the Chao Phraya, while the Andaman coast around Phuket and Krabi is known for white sand beaches and dramatic limestone cliffs rising straight out of the sea.

Thailand has no direct UK flights, so the journey usually involves one stop and a full day of travelling, making the right package far more important than on a short European trip. A well-structured package bundles flights, transfers and accommodation into one protected booking, so connections are coordinated and disruption is easier to manage. Our team can also compare departure times and layovers, so you arrive rested and ready for coast or temples.

Why Book Holidays from East Midlands to Thailand

Varied landscapes

The country moves from the mountains around Chiang Mai to the limestone karsts of Krabi within a single trip. Each region feels distinct, so you rarely run out of new scenery. Travellers often comment that the contrast is the highlight.

Temple heritage

Bangkok's Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha sit at the centre of the Thai capital. Ayutthaya, the former capital, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site about 80 km north of Bangkok. Together these sites tell a long story of Siamese kingdoms.

Island choice

Phuket, Krabi and Koh Samui offer very different island characters within easy reach of one another. Phuket is the largest island and has an airport with direct flights from Bangkok. Koh Samui has its own airport, which keeps resort transfers simple.

Food culture

Street food is central to daily life, and dishes such as pad Thai and som tam are sold almost everywhere. Northern specialities like khao soi show how regional the cooking can be. Eating well here rarely costs a great deal.

Easy internal travel

Bangkok is served by the BTS Skytrain and MRT metro, which make city days straightforward. Domestic flights link the capital with island and northern airports. Longer journeys by train or bus are also well established, and most routes run daily across the country, giving you flexibility to adjust plans as you travel.

Range for every budget

You can spend freely on boutique resorts or keep costs modest with guesthouses and local eating. The variety of stays means you can match the trip to your budget. Our team will explain what each option includes before you commit.

Your Guide to Holidays from East Midlands to Thailand

Thailand has no direct flights from the UK, so each route below reaches the resort through a connecting hub before a short onward transfer.

Bangkok: Most journeys to Thailand arrive through Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, which serves as the main hub for onward connections. Once you land, the Airport Rail Link and taxis take you into the city, and domestic flights run from there to island and northern airports. We recommend building in a comfortable connection time, because a tight changeover at a long-haul hub can leave you waiting a full day for the next available seat.
Phuket: Phuket International Airport receives direct domestic flights from the capital, so travellers heading to the island usually complete the journey with one short connection after the international leg. The airport sits a short drive from the main beach resorts, which makes the island one of the most convenient arrivals for holidays from the East Midlands. Journey times depend on the connection you are booked onto, so we confirm the full route with you when the package is finalised.
Koh Samui: Koh Samui has its own airport, so the island can be reached in a single domestic hop after the main international flight. Compared with the ferry journeys that link other islands, this is the quickest way onto the island, and it suits travellers who want resort comfort without a long boat transfer. We check the timing of the domestic leg so it fits neatly with your overall arrival. It is exactly the brief our Thailand holidays deals are built around.
Krabi: Krabi has its own airport and is the gateway to the striking limestone scenery of the surrounding coastline and nearby Railay. Reaching Railay itself requires a longtail boat from the mainland, a short crossing that becomes part of the arrival experience for many visitors. Because Railay is accessible only by boat, we factor the final transfer into your itinerary so you are not caught out on arrival day.
Chiang Mai: The northern city of Chiang Mai is reached by domestic flight from the capital, which makes it a convenient addition to a longer trip rather than a stand-alone journey from the UK. It offers a cooler, mountain-influenced base for temples and culture, and it works well as the first or final stop on a multi-region itinerary. We plan the internal flight carefully so that the northern leg does not compress your time in the south.

Thailand's beach resorts are spread across the Andaman coast and the Gulf, and each one offers a different balance of activity and calm.

Hua Hin: Hua Hin is a long-established seaside town on the Gulf of Thailand, roughly three hours south of the capital by road, and has been a favourite with Thai royalty and holidaymakers for well over a century. Its wide sandy beach, lined with traditional wooden pier houses and a lively night market, gives it a relaxed, unhurried feel. Beach resorts here range from boutique hotels to larger family properties, and the calmer water suits families and older travellers looking for a quieter alternative to the busier islands. It is exactly the brief our Thailand Beach Holidays deals are built around.
Ko Samet: Ko Samet's sandy shoreline is a short ferry ride from Rayong and sits in a quieter corner of the Gulf of Thailand than the busier resort islands further south. Its western beaches, such as Ao Phrao, offer soft white sand, shallow turquoise water and a relaxed village atmosphere. Beach resorts here suit couples and families who want a laid-back seaside break with fresh seafood and simple, easy-going accommodation.
Khao Lak: Khao Lak sits on the Andaman coast in Phang Nga province, close to Khao Sok National Park, and is known for calm, gently shelving beaches and quieter resorts. It is a more relaxed and less developed stretch of coastline, which makes it a good choice for those who want a restful stay with easy access to rainforest day trips. The trade-off is fewer late-night options, so it suits travellers who value calm over nightlife.
Koh Lanta: Koh Lanta is a quieter island reached by ferry from the mainland port or from the larger resort island to the south, and it is known for long beaches and a laid-back atmosphere. It is considerably less developed than the busier resort islands, so the choice of accommodation is smaller but the setting feels more relaxed. Ferry timetables can affect your day of arrival, so we check the crossing as part of the booking.
Koh Lipe: Koh Lipe is a small, car-free island in the Adang-Rawi group near the Malaysian border, known for its powder-white sand and clear turquoise shallows. Its resorts are mostly low-rise and relaxed, and many are within a short walk of the main beaches. Boat transfers from Pak Bara or Satun connect the island to the mainland, so allow extra time on your travel day. Because it sits on the Andaman side, the dry season from November to April is generally the most reliable period for beach holidays.
