Thailand Holidays in October

October is the wettest period on the Andaman coast, so beach resort choice matters more this month than at any other time of year.

• Khao Lak: Khao Lak is one of the most sensible October beach choices on the Andaman coast because its gently shelving beaches and calmer resorts handle the monsoon swell better than busier areas. The rain tends to come in short, heavy bursts rather than constant drizzle, leaving plenty of dry hours for pool time. Its position near the national park also gives you an easy inland option when the sea is rough. It is exactly the brief our Thailand Beach Holidays deals are built around.
• Koh Samui: Koh Samui sits on the Gulf of Thailand, which keeps it on a different weather pattern from the Andaman coast, so October is often drier here than on the resorts along the western Andaman shoreline. Its airport offers direct flights from the capital, which saves a long overland journey. Our recommendation is to choose a resort on the island's calmer western shores, as sea conditions can still be choppy on the exposed east side.
• Koh Lanta: Koh Lanta is a quieter island, reached by ferry from the mainland gateway of the Andaman coast or from the southern hub island nearby, and its long beaches are less developed than the resort strips further north. October rain can make the sea rougher, so travellers should check ferry schedules closely before booking connections. For those who value calm and space over nightlife, it remains a rewarding choice despite the wet weather.
• Koh Yao Noi: Koh Yao Noi is a quiet island set in Phang Nga Bay, offering scenic villages and low-key beaches that suit a slower October stay. Its sheltered position gives it some protection from the worst of the open-sea swell, though showers still arrive in the afternoons. We find it works best for travellers who are happy to stay put and enjoy the atmosphere rather than moving between islands.
• Phuket: Phuket is Thailand's largest island and offers the widest choice of hotels, beaches and nightlife, but October is its wettest period on the Andaman coast. Some beaches on the west side can have rough water during the monsoon, so resort location deserves careful thought. Travellers who book with us can compare options across the island and avoid the most exposed stretches of coast. It is exactly the brief our Thailand Luxury Holidays deals are built around.
