Holidays to Greece under £1000

Island holidays can fit a budget when you choose a less expensive island or travel in a shoulder month, and the options below show how the cost of ferries, flights and hotels varies from one island to the next.

• Corfu Town, Corfu: Corfu Town is the island's main settlement and has frequent flights from UK airports, which often lowers the overall package price compared with more remote islands. Its Venetian fortress and old quarter provide plenty to do without any additional spending on transport. Hotel stock is varied, from simple guesthouses in the old town to modern hotels on the seafront. We think it is one of the most practical islands for a budget trip that still delivers history and atmosphere. It is exactly the brief our Corfu holidays deals are built around.
• Naxos Chora, Naxos: Naxos is the largest island in the Cyclades and is reached by ferry from the mainland port, a route that can be significantly cheaper than flying to the more famous islands in peak season. Its harbour town of Chora has a Venetian castle and relaxed tavernas, and the island offers long beaches and walking trails. Ferries run more often in summer, so timing your journey around the timetable is key to controlling costs. For a quieter Cycladic base on a sensible budget, this island stands out. Athens holidays
• Paros, Cyclades: Paros is less crowded than the famous party islands and is linked to the mainland port by regular ferries, which keeps the cost of moving around the Cyclades manageable. Parikia, the island's main town, offers a traditional harbour and a range of guesthouses and apartments at accessible prices. The west coast beaches are a short journey from the town, although some are reached by bus rather than on foot. We recommend this island to travellers who want island character without the premium pricing of the busiest destinations. Greece Beach Holidays
• Rhodes Town, Rhodes: Rhodes Town combines a medieval walled Old Town with an airport that receives direct UK flights, which helps keep the overall package total lower. The city offers accommodation across a wide price range, and many budget options sit within walking distance of the historic centre. Beaches are reached by bus or taxi rather than directly from the town, so factor in the short journey when planning. It is a strong option for travellers who want history and sightseeing within a limited budget.
• Milos, Cyclades: Milos is a volcanic island in the Cyclades with coloured rock formations and beaches that are less busy than those on neighbouring islands. It is reached by ferry from the mainland port, and in shoulder months its hotels and rooms can be found at keener prices than in the peak summer weeks. Public transport on the island is limited, so a rental car or taxis add to the daily cost, which we account for when advising on value. For travellers willing to plan ahead, this island offers a quieter alternative at a sensible price.
