Solo Holidays to Greece

Resort areas where a solo traveller can settle in comfortably, with beaches, dining and easy ways to meet people.

• Faliraki: Faliraki sits a short drive from the island's main town and offers a long sandy beach with a busy resort strip that suits a solo traveller who wants company close at hand. Many hotels here run group activities and watersports, which makes it easy to join in without committing to anything fixed. The trade-off is that the strip can be loud late at night, so we recommend choosing accommodation a short walk back from the main road. For an energetic base with plenty of choice, it works very well. It is exactly the brief our Greece Beach Holidays deals are built around.
• Ixia: Ixia is a quieter coastal district on the north side of the island, with a sandy beach, a relaxed promenade and a calmer pace than the main resort strip. It suits solo travellers who want a restful base without giving up easy access to restaurants and bars. Buses run from here towards the medieval centre, so you can reach the old quarter for a day without needing a car. We think it is the better choice for a traveller who values peace over nightlife. It is exactly the brief our Rhodes holidays deals are built around.
• Agios Nikolaos: Agios Nikolaos is a small harbour town on the northeast coast of the island, built around a lake connected to the sea and lined with cafés and waterside tables. It is an easy place for a solo traveller to spend an evening, as the town centre is compact and walkable and the lakeside is busy with people eating alone or in pairs. Beaches are reached by short bus rides, which keeps you flexible. The town feels sociable without being overwhelming, and it is one of our favourite bases on the island. • Malia: Malia sits on the north shore of the island and has long sandy beaches, a lively evening strip and a good spread of mid-range tavernas and bars. It works well for a solo traveller who wants beaches by day and an active social scene after dark, with plenty of options for joining a boat trip or a group excursion, the very kind of balance our Greece All Inclusive Holidays deals are built around. The town can be busy in July and August, so we suggest booking early for a room with a sea view. It is a practical, well-connected resort for an independent holiday.
• Kalamaki: Kalamaki is a long, quiet sandy beach on Zakynthos, reached by a short drive from the main town of Zakynthos, and it attracts visitors who want calm water and a low-key evening. Accommodation is mostly small hotels and apartments, so the atmosphere is relaxed and suits a solo traveller who is happy with a book on the sand. Restaurants are spread along the road, meaning you will need to walk or take a taxi to reach some of them. It rewards a slower, more reflective style of holiday, the very same brief our Greece Last Minute Holidays deals are built around.
