Solo Holidays to Thailand

Resort stays give solo travellers a secure base with easy access to beaches, dining and organised activities close at hand.

• Koh Samui: Koh Samui is the largest island in the Gulf of Thailand and has its own airport with direct flights from the capital, which makes it one of the easiest resort islands to reach alone. Its resorts range from simple beachfront rooms to larger complexes with pools and restaurants, so you can choose how social you want your stay to be. The trade-off is that the island is more built up than some of its quieter neighbours, but for a solo guest that means more cafes, tours and people to share a meal with. We think it is an excellent first resort choice for a solo trip. It is exactly the brief our Thailand holidays deals are built around.
• Phuket: Phuket is Thailand's largest island and offers a wide choice of hotels along its beaches, from quiet bays to busier strips with nightlife. For a solo traveller it works well because boat trips, cooking classes and day tours are easy to join on arrival without needing to arrange anything in advance. Its international airport means you can fly in directly, and the island is well connected for day trips to nearby islands. The sheer choice can feel overwhelming, so we suggest picking a beach area close to the activities you want most. It is exactly the brief our Cheap Thailand Holidays deals are built around.
• Khao Lak: Khao Lak sits on the Andaman coast in Phang Nga province and is a calmer alternative for solo travellers who want a restful beach stay. Its gently shelving beaches and quieter resorts create a relaxed atmosphere, and the area is close to Khao Sok National Park for those who want jungle excursions. Nightlife is limited, so it suits people who are happy to spend evenings reading or dining quietly. Solo visitors who value calm over activity will find it a comfortable and rewarding choice.
• Ao Nang: Ao Nang is a busy coastal town in the province that serves as the main gateway to the surrounding limestone islands and the boat route to the peninsula's famous beaches. Its restaurants, guesthouses and tour operators make it simple for a solo traveller to meet others and join group trips without much planning. The town can be noisy in the evenings and some hotels are basic, so it pays to compare properties carefully before booking. For an active solo holiday, it offers excellent value and easy social access. It is exactly the brief our Thailand Last Minute Holidays deals are built around.
• Hua Hin: Hua Hin is a long-established seaside resort town a few hours south of the capital by road, popular with Thai families and visitors seeking a traditional beach atmosphere. Its hotels are generally more restrained than those on the islands, and the town centre has night markets and seafood restaurants that suit a solo diner. Beaches here are calmer and the pace is slower, which many solo travellers find restorative. We would recommend it for those who want a low-key base without giving up convenient access to the capital.
