Holidays to Thailand under £700

Resort choice is the single biggest lever on the price of a Thailand package, and a few well-chosen areas consistently offer the best value.

• Pattaya: Pattaya sits roughly two hours by road from the capital, which keeps transfer costs low and makes it one of the most accessible beach resorts for a modest budget. Hotel stock is wide, from simple beachfront rooms to larger family properties, so there is usually a room that fits. The trade-off is a livelier town atmosphere than the quieter southern islands. We think it is the strongest pick for travellers who want value above all else.
• Khao Lak: Khao Lak offers calm, gently shelving beaches and a run of quieter resorts on the Andaman coast, often at lower nightly rates than the island's busiest beach strips. It sits within easy reach of the lush rainforest national park nearby, which gives a good reason to explore beyond the sand on a modest day budget. Transfers from the airport take longer than to the big resort towns, so the saving should be weighed against travel time. For a relaxed stay at a sensible price, it is hard to beat and well suited to families. Thailand Family Holidays
• Ao Nang: Ao Nang sits on the western coast of its province, with a dense cluster of mid-range hotels and restaurants that tends to keep competitive pricing across the year. It is a short longtail boat ride from Railay, so you can enjoy a more dramatic setting without paying for a resort on the peninsula itself. Beaches here are busier than in the quieter corners of the region, and the town can feel crowded in peak weeks. For travellers seeking a balance of choice, value and a convenient base, the same brief our Thailand Luxury Holidays deals are built around still points to this spot as a sensible choice.
• Hua Hin: Hua Hin is a long-established seaside town a few hours south of the capital by road, with a calmer pace than the big Thai resort areas. Hotel rates here are often modest, especially for guesthouses and mid-size hotels away from the seafront. The beaches are sandy and the town is easy to walk, though the sea can be less clear than on the islands. It suits travellers who want a restful base at a low cost.
• Koh Lanta: Koh Lanta is a quieter island reached by ferry from the mainland gateway town or the wider Andaman coast, with long beaches and a laid-back atmosphere that stays affordable for those booking simple accommodation. The ferry adds journey time and a little cost compared with a mainland resort, so it is worth factoring in, much like the planning our Thailand All Inclusive Holidays deals are built around. Development is lighter than on the neighbouring islands, meaning fewer hotels but also fewer premium price tags. It is a sensible choice when calm matters more than nightlife. Thailand Beach Holidays
