Agadir: The purpose-built resort city on the Atlantic, rebuilt after the 1960 earthquake. Wide sandy beaches, a modern marina, and the broadest range of all-inclusive resort hotels in Morocco make this the most straightforward base for first-time visitors. Djemaa el-Fna, Marrakech: The square operates differently at different hours — orange juice stalls and snake charmers by day, a sprawling open-air restaurant space after dark. An evening circuit of the food stalls — harira soup, kefta, snail broth, fresh-squeezed juice — is one of the most memorable meals in the country.

Hammam & souk immersion: A traditional hammam session — steam room, black soap scrub, kessa mitt exfoliation — costs between £8 and £25 at a local establishment. Follow it with a souk walk: the spice markets in Fes and Marrakech are structured neighbourhoods, each craft occupying its own quarter.

Atlantic coast surf & water activities: Taghazout, 20 km north of Agadir, is Morocco's surf hub with consistent reef and point breaks from October through April. Beginner lessons are available year-round. Essaouira offers kitesurfing and windsurfing on the same stretch of coast.
